While the country observed the first immunisation drive, on January 16, of the homegrown COVID-19 vaccines one of which lacks efficacy data, a few frontline workers refused to take the vaccine.
The Centre has said that the workers will not get to choose between the two vaccines and will be administered with whichever is available on the spot.
The worker is heard saying, “We have been working all this while during the COVID-19 pandemic and we will work in the future but if we take this vaccine and get adverse reactions, who will be responsible for that?”
The centre had approved two vaccines, Covishield from the Serum Institute of India and Covaxin manufactured by the Bharat Biotech. However, the efficacy of Covaxin is unknown and is still under phase three trials.
Madhya Pradesh Congress MLA Harsh Vijay Gehlot was caught on camera threatening a woman officer after a tractor rally in Sailana town in Ratlam district.
The incident took place on Sunday, January 17, after the Congress carried out a tractor rally in support of farmers protesting against the centre's three farm laws.

Although, the numbers were less than half of the turnout expected, the state still had the highest number of health workers vaccinated on the second day of the vaccination drive.
According to the Health department, only 13,036 healthcare workers got the COVID-19 vaccine administered across the state against the targeted 27,233 for the day. Across the country, only over 17,000 people got vaccinated in six states on Sunday.

The Bombay High Court, on Monday, January 18, said that a #MediaTrial during an ongoing investigation violates program code under the Cable TV Network Regulation Act and would impact the probe.
The bench passed the order while hearing a petition filed by former police officers from Maharashtra, activists, lawyers and NGOs in November, seeking a directive restraining the “media trial” in the Sushant Rajput death case.
The court held that the trial by media could interfere with the administration of criminal justice.
