The tools kits and some of the lessons learned from IS and AQ are not transferable. There is plenty of excellent work in far-right extremism, it just needs to be teased out to build CT toolkits for our modern threats.

As it is brought up in the brief 2) "But this new collection of terrorist adversaries possesses few of the attributes that proved so vulnerable to CT actions." We cannot speak of the FR in absolute terms, we're all guilty of it at times, this space is amorphous and changing

This leads into another important point in this piece about the concept of fringe fluidity "where an experience with one form of extremism can lead to a distinct radicalization pathway and thus, facilitate the movement of individuals from one form of militancy to another"

This is one of my concerns with the recent deplstforming and the events of Jan 6. It has brought together a mixed bag of actors that frequent a similar ecosystem but didn't necessarily interact regularly.

However with the raprochement of these ecosystems and movements, the shift from one ideology to the next (organically or by recruitment) will happen and likely from the less to more radical communities.

Even if you were to completely remove a group or disprove a movement the core beliefs of the memebers will still remain and they will seek to find them in other groups.

This will continue to be an evolving space and I have never seen these spaces as active as it is right now so it is difficult to know how the dust will settle.
