[thread]

Amidst yesterday's inauguration

There were so many moments

For reflection

For contemplation

For inspiration

For commemoration

I am going to pick one
President Donald J. Trump

"Why don't we let this wash over the country?"

Dr. Fauci

"Mr. President, Many people would die."

thehill.com/homenews/admin…
One other element stands out in this

"Trump was reportedly also seeking to understand why “herd immunity” to the coronavirus had been rejected."

If only I could think what nations Donald J. Trump could have gotten the idea that herd immunity was a viable strategy
Anyway back to the main focus

I did a thread back in early Summer 2020

Trying to compare the deaths from coronavirus and how we put these into perspective

This tried to equate it to a range of disasters, incidents or attacks or wars to try and compare how we view the daily or total death count
And at the start of a new presidency

I found it fascinating

Because I chose to read up on a cemetery

weta.org/press/facts-ar…
The first military burial occurred at Arlington National Cemetery in 1864, for Private William Christman.

Arlington National Cemetery is the final resting place of over 400,000 men and women.

There are other fascinating facts on Arlington
The question though

Is how do we remember and commemorate those who have fallen to coronavirus

And how do we remember this tragedy

I introduced my thread with a song

This is good news

The securing of British jobs

Is good news

Though to secure them

It admits two things

1. They were under threat
2. Something was done to address that threat

Your reminder this is a man who said "fuck business"

[thread] on Boris Johnson and "woke"

And a journey from Robert Jenrick

To the words of Boris Johnson

And to today's attack lines from @CCHQPress

And the blue on blue of yesterday where one amoral cheating lying racist PM attacked another

Here's @RobertJenrick

A man who has no shame at his lack of ethics

Here's a reminder of the words of Boris Johnson on Winston Churchill

[thread] Now this front page is fascinating

First - on Theresa May

Second - on Sarah Vine

Oh and also congratulations to Euan Blair on his marriage and his business success.
First on Boris

Theresa May is an amoral cheating lying racist self serving incompetent charlatan

Operation Vaken, suppressing immigration reports, cutting police & saying they are crying wolf, brexit, cheating, citizens of nowhere

Also: see Boris

Second on Sarah

"Want to keep us in lockdown. Then give us a roadmap out"

I actually agree with Sarah

There should be a roadmap out of lockdown

Just as there should have been from the start of this covid crisis

Beware the "baying mob"

Beware the "revisionist purge"

There must always be a culture war

There is a statue that needs protection from a "baying mob"

Thatcher

“Britain does not renounce Treaties.

Indeed, to do so would damage our own integrity as well as international relations.“

Anyone remember "in a very specific and limited way"
Or lying to Queen to unlawfully prorogue Parliament?

Thatcher

[thread] on this Telegraph article summarised by David

Two key quotes I take from this

1) "Mr Gove has set up a team to find a solution"

And

2) "Given that Northern Ireland was arguably was overlooked amid the focus on other aspects of Brexit"
1) "Mr Gove has set up a team to find a solution"

Your reminder

Prior to 23/6/16 Vote Leave said they had many solutions to the NI border

4 years of drones, blimps, blockchain, unspecified technology, other country examples, Maxfac, Alt Arrangements

And

2) "Given that Northern Ireland was arguably was overlooked amid the focus on other aspects of Brexit"

See point 1
