THREAD: I really wish we didn’t have to talk about this person again, but we think the most fitting tribute to Margaret Court would be to ban LGBTQ+ conversion practices nationally, starting by passing the Bill currently before the Victorian Parliament.
This would unequivocally tell young LGBTIQ+ people everywhere that they are whole, loved and valid just as they are.
I hope one day Mrs Court sees the wonderful country that Australia is, and can be, when we recognise and value everyone who makes up our great nation, equally.
This way we can spend less time talking about the views of tennis players and more time tackling the mental health challenges and discrimination experienced by LGBTIQ+ people.
That's how we build an Australia where everyone is equal, no matter who they are or whom they love.
