There has never been a music video that hit me as hard as this one.

I have never identified with a character in a music video as much as I identified with this homeless physicist.

It is true, some problems you must be insane or (close to it) to solve.

Talent is hitting a target others can’t hit

Genius is hitting a target others can’t see

Therefore...

To the outsider watching Genius at work, tends to appear either like they are a lousy shot, or absolutely insane

First time I saw this video, and most time I’ve watched it since, I cried when it got to this scene.

About a month prior I remember looking at my work with the same expression

Something you should pay attention to if you’re watching @DustinPoirier’s post game interview.

He just knocked out Conor McGregor, and says he “feels good but..” just wants to get home to his daughter.

SO MANY PEOPLE our age completely missing how much better life is with kids.
Also - if you’re working behind a desk claiming you’ll have kids after you achieve your career goals... Or you need more $$$ 1st?

I WILL BET MONEY you do not work as hard as these fighters.

Approximately no one has as much financial insecurity as an up and coming MMA fighter.
The right time is right now

Excited to watch the other Conor (@TheNotoriousMMA) fight tonight

When @RoamResearch had less than 10k in the bank and @hashbrown490 was not yet on the team, his path from plumber to 2 belt champion in 5 years was big part in getting my mind right to win

I sold my first company to Aol at 23, but we sold because we couldn't find a way to make it work.

For years, folks treated me like a success, but I felt like a fraud, and was deeply afraid I'd end up living the phrase

"He had a great future in his past"
When I quit that job, was making more money than anyone in my family had ever seen

But in the 5 years it took to build first version of Roam, the thing which convinced @MeadowsRichard to invest, and Josh to join, I was broke.

To give credit where credit is due. Have to thank @DavidSHolz for the idea to commit to a minimum number of games before worrying about what the first would be.

I suspect many of these challenges will be around open questions in Tools for Thought domain, but 🤷‍♂️ who knows
Amazing how friends can get you to look at fears that had completely escaped your conscious mind...

Only tonight did I realize had belief I had not looked at directly in years -- if you ever give people money in a competition -- all the designers will hate you.
Ideologically, I've always felt crowdsourcing innovation was a step in the direction of Commons Based Peer Production, and a step worth taking -- The astrolabe logo that more than 4 of us now have tattooed actually came from a crowdsourcing site, many many many years ago...

The folks at @RoamBounties have been having all together too much fun

It is time we entered the fray

For the next 3 months, we'll announce a new challenge every two weeks, for each challenge we'll distribute $10,000 to those whose public work pushes the frontier the farthest.
I'll announce the first challenge in the next 48 hours.

For real, last competition I remember winning outright was Cub Scout Pinewood Derby circa 1995 or 96.

Normally I’m of the mind that competition is for losers, but this feels winnable, and too good an opportunity to test the coordination and tribal loyalty of #roamcult to pass up
