Didn’t know @nathanbarry had a book so I was excited to pick up Authority this weekend.

Here follows my notes 👇
The people you know in your industry write.

To be known, you must teach.

Don’t share - you’ll be forgotten.

Share - you’ll be remembered.
Know a skill others use to earn money?

Teach it. Make money.
You’ll always be one step ahead of someone in your learning.

Teach to them.

You don’t have to be an expert to teach.
No competitors is a good thing, right?

Wrong.

It shows there is no market.
Don’t start from scratch.

Write, then edit.

It’s only in comparison to what you’ve previously done that you can improve.
Build a social following, make relationships.

Build an email list, make money.
Write. A lot.
Price based on value, not cost.
How you package your product influences it’s perceived value.

Courses and guides are worth more than books.
Use pre-orders to validate demand.

Don’t trust opinion, trust the money.
Promote your product with

- guest blogs
- testimonials
- previews
On your book sales page, include

- why someone should care
- a sample chapter
- table of contents
- social proof
- about the author
- FAQ
- purchasing options
Launch week will see your biggest sales.

Don’t let that stop you maintaining a base level of sales thereafter.
Start before you feel ready.

Sahil Lavingia is the founder of @gumroad

Over the past week I've

- read every article
- listened to multiple podcasts
- gone through all his tweets

Here are 100 lessons I've learned about @shl 👇 Image
1. Ship quickly

Sahil came up with idea for Gumroad.

Built it over the weekend.

And launched it Monday morning on Hacker News.

52,000 people saw it on the first day.
2. Making tough decisions

Gumroad wasn't growing quickly enough to keep up with the demands of investors.

To keep the company alive, he laid off most of it's employees.

Larry King wasn’t always the man in control behind the mic.

Here’s a funny story from his early days 👇
When working on radio, he had to do the over night show.

12 until 6am.

Whilst on shift, the phone rang.

In a sexy voice, the woman said

“I want you”
She wanted Larry to come over but she had to leave for work at 6, when Larry’s shift was due to end.

Getting my dad to read Atomic Habits so thought I’d read it again.

Follow along for my notes 👇 Image
Changes that seem small and unimportant at first will compound into remarkable results if you’re willing to stick with them for years. Image
Who you are today is a result of what you’ve done for the last year.

Who your are going to be next year starts with your habits today.
