5) Brighton still the 2nd/3rd best defensive team in the league
6) United have a decent attack but mediocre defence
7) Leeds decent attack but catasrophic defence

City just about matching #LFC's best ever half season of underlying performance, the first half of 18/19.
City 20/21 +23.8 non-penalty XG difference
#LFC 18/19 +25.1
City's non-penalty XG conceded of just 11.2 in 19 games is astonishingly good. Easily the best defensive team in Europe this season.
This was from 2 weeks ago. City will have improved since then and be even closer to the top right of the chart

LFC v EFC is now the longest unbeaten streak by LFC against any single opponent in our entire history. Here's the story of those 23 games, 10 years and 3,654 days unbeaten
1) 16.01.2011 Anfield 2-2 draw
First home game of Dalglish era. Moyes in charge for EFC. EFC come from behind to lead 2-1 but Howard needlessly brings down Maxi for a pen as EFC squander chance for 1st win at Anfield since 1999
2) 01.10.2011 Goodison 2-0 win
Martin Atkinson sends off Jack Rodwell after 23 minutes. Kuyt misses a pen before late goals from Carroll & Suarez win it. The FA overturn the red card a few days later

This is a beautifully crafted banter stat. Absolutely world class wordsmithing to maximise banter whilst still being technically correct
Here's the context:
VVD has made 4 errors total, 3 leading to goal (LTG)
VVD has also played more minutes than any other player in the league (7203)
7 other players have 3 errors LTG, 2 of them in 40% of the minutes
Obviously not all errors lead to goal, some just lead to shots which aren't scored
19 outfielders have made more errors
Willy Boly has actually made 9 with zero LTG (i.e. somehow he's got away with all 9)
Jonny Evans has 7 with zero LTG
Davinson Sanchez 7 (1 LTG)

Here's where I stand on not reinforcing the #LFC squad.
We got 97 points last season but didn't win the EPL because we're competing with one of the greatest club sides ever.
We also got 97 points through a series of positive skews that don't happen or align every season. Namely:
Availability of best players
Set plays/Penalties
Outrageous winning goals (Everton, Spurs)
Purple patch finishing (mane, Origi)
But even with all those positive skews, it only took a minor run of stodgy attacking form in Jan/Feb to drop the points that saw us eventually end up behind City. Hell, even the defence wobbled for a couple of games.
