1/The way that the Dept of Social Security does things really really needs to be changed big time. It’s an antiquated system & doesn’t provide enough for low income people (temporarily disabled included) to survive in & esp in CA & other high cost states. It’s well below poverty

2/level. But the attitude of employees at local field offices (including where I live & I’ve been told other ones also) is that it meets needs so take it or leave it. They’re very cold. Also often incompetent - the ofc here loses important documents that clients

3/must turn in, like income verifications, copies of ID’s etc. Then they try to penalize the clients by threatening a few months later to cut their benefits if they don’t get the documents that the SSN ofc lost & bring them in again. So if one must go back there again you have to

4/stand outside in rain even for typically up to several hrs til you get to the door. Then it’s another several hrs til you can be seen once inside the small lobby they provide. Yet there’s tons of workers & windows to help people at. Some people often

5/bring several kids & other adult family members as well which is entirely unnec & takes up seats inside the lobby, making it difficult for those who need assistance to be seated & get processed in a timely manner.
Also, if one needs a replacement SSN

6/card they make it very difficult to get one! They want you to send in your drivers lic or ID if you can’t go into the ofc & show it to them & do your app for a new card in there. Right now the offices in CA or certain parts of anyway (here included) are

7/closed to the public due to the trumpvirus 😡😬& they have been the entire year, except for contacting them telephonically. My husband has a friend who needs a replacement SSN card for a job & the only way to get one is to have to send in his drivers license itself - they won’t

8/accept a cy of it or a screenshot, & they won’t let the poor fellow come in to apply for a new card & show his drivers lic. They told him when he called they won’t make appts for American citizens🥺. This is just stupid! And I think this is them making their own rules.

9/Also if one has to be on SSI, at 62 yrs that person is forced by the SSN Admin to draw early SSA or they threaten to cut the SSI benefits, including that person’s medical. When same person is 66 & on SSI still (if he/she couldn’t get a job & didn’t qualify for SSDI) then he/she

10/does NOT get to draw full SSA either. Even tho various field offices have been telling some people that they can, from what I hear.
The SSN Admin knows that if low income folks on SSI & partial SSA are able to get jobs they can do (depending on med conditions &

11/skills & abilities), & if they can draw full SSA when they reach 66 yrs, any wages they make can’t be deducted from their SSA, unless it’s over a certain amount. SSI is different - folks drawing SSI & working get a lot taken out of their SSI benefits.

12/This is esp bad if they’re permanently disabled & have to draw SSI til & if they become fortunate enough to get jobs that can get them off govt support & give them a decent quality of life.
Right now during covid this is close to impossible for these people unless

13/they have decent places to live & are able to get a WiFi connection & the equipment to take on positions as virtual employees.
And also, for married couples who are both on SSI & one is forced to start taking early partial SSA, that amt gets deducted out of both of

14/their SSI benefits. Again they’re shoved into below poverty level. Appeals can be put in against the SSN Dept to fight this but SSN lawyers are almost NEVER for the clients. They’re pretty much one-sided (much as the GOP party is only for themselves & not the American

15/people. In fact I had gone over to the local field ofc one day to drop off something & when I finally got inside there & was sittin down, I happened to glance up at 2 doors side by side & right above them were 2 identical & very noticeable portraits of that evil

Since the place has been shut down all yr & I have no reason to go there anyway & don’t want to either, I don’t know if those trump portraits have been taken down or not. I sure hope so. If not then that would just reveal
