@robert_spalding The CCP factions are real. I spent 10+ years living their. The mess we unleashed on the world is of the West’s own making. We did not spend the time to understand the Chinese people, their culture or their government. Most still do not, bother. But now they are transformed.
1/
@robert_spalding Our own greed unleashed by naked capitalism devoid of National loyalty or sovereignty. Refusal to enforce the Law of the Sea, human rights conventions, or WTO. Refusal to intervene when they stole our IP or bought strategic technologies.
2/
@robert_spalding We looked the other way when Al Gore accepted an illegal bag of cash on a windswept hill in California, we barely reacted to repeated hacking of our systems, we forced Yahoo and Cisco to accept a pittance for their IP stolen by Alibaba and Huawei.
3/
@robert_spalding Instead of forcing divestiture like we did with South African human rights violations, we encouraged our companies to rush in to make more money. When they destroyed Tibetan temples, we did not care. When they harvested organs from live prisoners we fussed but did nothing.
4/
@robert_spalding When they traffic young girls kidnapped across SE Asia for wives, slaves and prostitutes we don’t pay attention. When they destroy a culture of an ancient people in Xinjiang we talk quietly in corners. When they punish Australia for speaking out we do nothing for our friend.
5/
@robert_spalding When they bulldoze Christian churches and arrest Falun Gong, what do we do? When did we decide it was ok to partner with such a place? We continue to subsidize their economy, we continue to do almost nothing about flagrant human rights abuses. We continue to pretend.
/6
@robert_spalding We pretend we care, we pretend we stand for something, in the meantime do nothing about Chinese agents operating in the US. We think it is Ok if the leader of the House, the Senate minority leader and the President’s family are compromised. We act like nothing is wrong.
7/
@robert_spalding Our MSM takes their blood money, our schools support on campus indoctrination centers. They take HK, they grab the most important shipping lanes in the world, and prepare to invade Taiwan. But what do we do?
8/
@robert_spalding Europe signs a trade and investment deal, our tech companies build repression technology for them, our investment bankers make billions, and out political elites prepare to return to normal. Our principals and assets are being sold off.
9/
@robert_spalding There are lots of good Chinese people, their culture has a rich history, but they are trapped in the Middle Ages by the CCP. If you are not shouting; you are asleep, supporting inhumanity at impossible scale or think it will not affect you. Wrong, it closes in now.

The GDP numbers in China include many elements that consistently overstate economic strength. It has been a specific objective of each provincial government to meet GDP guidelines leading to dramatic distortions in capital allocations to ghost cities and below cost production.
1/
Examples of manipulated economics within recent Chinese history, including Mao’s decision to seize and melt down steel from peasant tools and cooking ware to boost Chinese steel production figures. Chinese income and economic figures are suspect without Western standards.
2/
This is extended to Chinese company annual reports where it is well known 3-4 sets of creative books are maintained, none resembling honest accounting; designed for different audiences. Western investments in China do not benefit from honest accounting.

So far, the Biden Administration is standing strong on China. I hope it continues, many are concerned it won’t. We need to credit them for their early support of a firm policy. This has been the most important issue for the free world for decades, hopefully we are waking up.
1/
There are many important international issues, and if you know me, you already know I am anti-Glabalist but am pro-fair and balanced cooperation. Anyone that thinks we can solve the Chinese crisis without forging a worldwide coalition is simply wrong.
2/
We need enlightened policy in Africa, S America, SE Asia, and Oceania on diversifying supply chains and advancing real and sustainable economic development adhering to the rule of law, human rights, and freedom. We also must advance a cogent strategy of engagement.

@gummibear737 @MichaelPSenger Let’s review the scientific developments on COVID19 of the last month:
1) AMA and others are dropping objections to Hydroxychloroquine.
2) Aggressive pursuit of other repurposed drugs such as Ivermectin has restarted.
1/
3) The vaccines that Dr. Fauci declared were impossible to develop in less than two years are rolling out 100s of millions of doses.
4) Joe Biden, strongest intellect of the 21st century, basically quoted President Trump as saying that the virus will follow the course it does.
2/
And, of course, the MSM is cheering his great wisdom on as Michigan, DC, New York and others start to open up.
5) The WHO suddenly realizes deaths and cases are dramatically over reported and has tightened the reporting criteria significantly.

@Covid19Crusher @gummibear737 Sudden renewed interest in cheap safe drugs, such as ivermectin, to treat COVID19. Where were the trials last summer? Are these designed as badly as the Hydroxychloroquine ones, or is the medical bureaucracy actually trying to save lives, this time?
We should have tested all of these drugs in large well designed RCTs by now.

@Jkylebass This is a great emotional plea but needs expansion; skilled manufacturing is the traditional high paid bridge into the upper middle class. The cost and work rules offended our elite. They backdoor’d our system, exporting jobs to China.
1/
It is a merciless calculation. But there are a number of issues that need to be addressed:
1) China, has a massive labor pool but presents a horrible moral dilemma. Is it, ok, to take jobs from America and ship them to a country with few freedoms or human rights protections.
2/
2) An economy without a vibrant middle class is not the place we aspired to be for centuries. Freedom and opportunity to succeed is a foundational element of the US ethos, they are trying to destroy it. We must preserve this ability to succeed, hope nourishes the soul.

@BuckSexton @gummibear737 @Covid19Crusher @EthicalSkeptic The facts:
1) Dr. Fauci and NIH/CDC have actively interfered with the evaluation and advocacy of off label use of safe existing drugs. The reasons are multi fold including a bad EUA framework during a true emergency.
1/
@BuckSexton @gummibear737 @Covid19Crusher @EthicalSkeptic 2) Early disease parameters were poorly understood and RCTs during this time were often off-mark or suffered from poor design. But a mythology has arisen due to hyped studies that were later discredited. And the perceptual damage had not been corrected.
2/
@BuckSexton @gummibear737 @Covid19Crusher @EthicalSkeptic 3) The nature of politics in academic medicine overlaid with governmental politics; all amplified by social media have affected doctors, virologists, epidemiologists, infectious disease specialists. We are rapidly substituting politics for science. Anger replacing judgment.
