"Indigenous filmmaker is calling for fines and jail time for those falsely claiming to be Indigenous" -- whose resources are going to pay for this program?
“Having a regulatory framework in place to say who is and isn’t Indigenous — or to police people trying to assert Indigenous heritage — opens up the potential for abuse,” Lee noted. “I have a colleague who is Indigenous, but her First Nation was declared extinct."
@Pam_Palmater -- how would that have worked out for Frank? He seemed to know how that would work out . 432 RCAP report - Frank Palmater - aboriginal ancestry = acceptance from whose community.? Those communities do not want to accept anyone who doesn't have a Federal stamped
So unless you are going to make all Indigenous programs Status specific only, I think you are going to have quite the time writing this law and not going against laws already established.
I also bet Michelle Latimer, once she got her affairs in order, also would meet the constitutional definition of an Indigenous person. Until the Gov recently changed Bills like C-31 and S-3, many of those persons wouldn't have been able to establish their identities either.
Once again, who is going to pay for this program? I haven't heard one word about that? Tax payers? Federal? Provincial? @APTNNews I would ask Tamara Bell herself, anyone know her twitter handle?

"The Métis National Council does not recognize the existence of Métis communities in Quebec." The Metis National Council is one of the 2 National organizations who have a mandate to the Metis peoples of Canada. MNC and CAP/NCC have 2 very different definitions of what it means
to be Metis. Just because MNC gets millions to shut out the voices of the other Metis people, does not make them more legitimate! CAP/NCC is who repatriated the Metis peoples into the Canadian Constitution. The purpose of the NCC/CAP meetings is to ensure that 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆

utm.utoronto.ca/political-scie… -- Is Chance Finegan Indigenous? -- If not, why is he weighing in on Indigenous Identity Politics? Why is his career based on Indigenous issues? Taking a page out of Darryl's book? No pun intended !!
Good, about time someone stands up to them. They work in half-truths and gangs and publicly shame people into silence. @CBCIndigenous - Use US Indigenous politics from Kim Tallbear to police Indigenous identities in Canada, when the US doesn't even recognize Metis peoples.
@ChanceFinegan are you aware that Metis are in the Mi'kmaw's constitution and bylaws since 1973?
"MMF supported New Brunswick Association of Metis and Non-Status Indians to 1000 acres of land" "brandon-sun-jan-12-1977-p-1- Support Claim-NCC and MMF they support the claim of the New Brunswick Association of Metis and Non Status Indians to 1000 acres of land"
"portsmouth-herald-jan-12-1977-p-28- Group backs Indian claim - NCC and MMF have told the NB Gov they back the claim of the NB association of Metis and Non-staus Indians." -- Hmm @ChanceFinegan doesn't seem like they were too concerned in 1977? This must be a recent concern?
