Re: School reopenings. Nearly all the school-based studies are BEFORE and do not account for the new COVID-19 variants that stay viable in the air longer and are more contagious than what we have been dealing with up to this point. It's unbelievable to me leaders miss that point

When the price of getting it wrong is sickness or death...and vaccines around the corner. Shouldn't we err on the side of caution and at least we have our teachers protected?
Teachers and administrators should NOT have to choose to risk their lives for arbitrary openings--especially w the horrible track record about how civic leaders have gotten this wrong.
It bugs me policies are created that educators are required to do in-person unless they have a doctor's note. What about the the at-risk people in their household or that parent they are taking care of?
We do NOT know the risk of the new COVID variants in schools. In fact, at this precise date 1/31/2020 - the U.S. had only 6 identified cases. We are starting the line a year later in an unimaginable worse shape. Only difference is hope of vaccine doses to protect eventually.
How can anyone imagine we are in better shape reopening now than let's say last year March or April?
