1. Behold the Multiverse 2. Demon Bolt 3. Sarulf's Packmate
big gap
4. Feed the Serpent 5. Shimmerdrift Vale
big gap
for the next 5, there are two approaches depending on snow/format speed.
1/9
Hedge snow:
6. Frostbite 7. UG dual 8. GR dual 9. GB dual 10. Sculptor of winter.
Hedge aggro:
6. Axgard Cavalry 7. Struggle for Skemfar 8. Run Amok 9. Tuskeri Firewalker 10. Bound in Gold
Depending on how you think, either G or R is the best color by a lot. I'm on R.
2/9
There are two types of white decks. Either the crazy aggressive variants, or normal.
Normal top3
1. Bound in Gold 2. Doomskar Oracle 3. Stanheim Courser
Fast top3
1. Bound in Gold 2. Battlefield Raptor 3. Goldmaw Champion
I prefer the fast variants at this time.
3/9
Blue is a great color with lots of options, even though it doesn't have a huge top10 presence.
1. Behold the Multiverse 2. Mistwalker 3. Augury Raven or Bind the Multiverse
Basically, the first Bind in your deck is better than the first Raven, but Raven > Bind after.
4/9
Black feels terrible. The best black decks I have seen leverage discard, so I believe the top black commons are:
1. Feed the Serpent 2. Elderfang Deciple 3. Skull Raid
Black might be bad enough because of this that Feed the Serpent gets bumped from the top 10 commons tbh.
5/9
Red has an incredibly deep roster for aggression and removal. The 6th best red common is Squash, which is better than top-3 commons in black and white.
1. Demon Bolt 2. Axgard Cavalry 3. Run Amok
Tuskeri Firewalker is AWESOME, but less important than these other cards.
6/9
Green is great IF you love snow. Otherwise it's pretty meh. These ratings assume the snow school of thought.
1. Sarulf's Packmate 2. Struggle for Skemfar (actually G snow-duals though) 3. Sculptor of Winter
Green's commons after top2 fall off a cliff without snow support.
7/8
This yields my stance on the format: I believe it's split towards two different strategies. The 1st strategy is:
"Start the draft taking the best cards and the lands. Bias towards green decks and snow cards. If a lane presents itself and snow lands don't wheel. Pivot."
8/9
The 2nd strategy is:
"Only draft snow if pushed into it, which often means biasing away from both green and black. Highest archetypal preference is UR and WR because R is the best color. UW foretell is a safe backdoor, and G being open can push you into snow or GR beats."
9/9
My top 5 commons are trying to be agnostic of these two pillars. If you're all in on one pillar (e.g. draft R aggro decks), then Demon Bolt > Behold and Vale out of top5 is certainly be reasonable.
I'm currently on R, but not by enough to change my P1P1 strategy for top5.

Thread for #MTGKHM Draft outlining the uncommons I take over my top3 commons P1P1. For context, my top three commons are:
1. Behold the Multiverse
Big gap. 2 and 3 are very very close.
2. Demon Bolt 3. Sarulf's Packmate
With that in mind, let's start with gold cards!
1/8
These cards are not only outright fantastic in their respective color-pairs, but they are AMAZING in the Snow deck --- one of the best archetypes. The fact that they are good splashes make them more flexible than your average gold card. Don't hesitate to slam these early.
2/8
White has gotten a bad rep lately, and I think it's misplaced. White aggressive decks are a great way to punish the slow starts of snow, and Clarion Spirit and Usher of the Fallen are fantastic cheap creatures that help provide resilience in the face of removal.
Boros has two distinct variants in #MTGKaldheim Draft, and I believe they are defined by two different commons: Run Amok and Tormentor’s Helm.
Both cards fill a similar purpose: enabling attacks early and increasing total damage potential. Both cards provide inevitability.
1/5
Here is a good example of the Run Amok variant. This deck went 2-1, but easily could have gone 3-0. Kaya’s Onslaught is the most important uncommon for wins out of nowhere, and the creatures don’t really matter as long as you have multiple copies of Run Amok.
2/5
Here is a good example of the Helm variant that went 3-0. Yes, 4 Clarion Spirit is an anomaly, but I stand by this variant of the archetype based in commons. While Clarion Spirit and Koll take it to the next level, many common creatures support this more than you realize.
