Watching @AOC's live Instagram feed right now and she's relaying how she was hiding in her office bathroom as the Insurrectionists were elsewhere in her office screaming "WHERE IS SHE?! WHERE IS SHE?!"
She was mere moments - and yards - away from losing her life.
Okay the story just gets weirder. The man who was yelling that with so much hostility was actually Capitol Police Officer. So hostile that she wasn't sure whose side this officer was on.
The Capitol Police Officer told her and her staff member to go to a certain area in the building. But it only brought them closer to ground level where a lot of the chaos was.
She was truly fearful for her life during all of this.
So AOC and Katie Porter had to go through staff members' exercise clothes and sneakers to find potential disguises!!!
Meanwhile, staff members are barricading the office doors.
AOC is retelling this story of her experience with a wonderful amount of grace and a few touches of humor, but you one thing is clear:
AOC was absolutely traumatized by this experience.
Going back to the first 2 tweets in this thread where it seemed like the person in her office was an Insurrectionist and was actually Capitol Police, the gist is that there is a suspicion that the officer might have been compromised.
To be clear, she does NOT know for sure.
She's merely relating how crazy the notion was that she could not be sure and that she could not necessarily trust the Officer in that situation due to what he said, his hostility, and what we learned after.
AOC was so skeptical of what was going on that she didn't want to go to the Congressional extraction point because she feared that it was not safe.
Basically she thought that someone on the inside might have been part of the attack, and if so that it would be dangerous.
Note: AOC has gone into a lot of detail in this IG Live and I've done my best to sort of relay what she said, but it's a long story with a lot of details, and I think I got them right for the most part.
The night/experience ended with them certifying the Electoral College Votes and her and Katie Porter spending time with Ayanna Pressley in Ayanna's office til 4AM.
Ayanna told AOC that she had been through a traumatizing experience, and that she needed to take care of herself.
Now AOC is talking about the importance of recognizing trauma, the importance of admitting that it happened to you, the importance of getting help for it, and the importance of being honest about it.
AOC is now taking those to task who are saying that everyone should just "move on" from what happened and that they should get over it. And how many of those people are also ones who perpetuated the 'Big Lie' that put them in jeopardy in the first place.
And finally AOC is GOING IN ON those Republican members who have put their political self-preservation and ambition over the safety of their colleagues and the sanctity of their democracy.
AOC's livestream has now ended. She says there are even more details that she could share, but she didn't want the IG Live to go on forever. But we got the main points.
Again, my tweets might not do justice to her truth.
I urge you to find the video yourself and watch.
One final note:
Katie Porter was just corroborated AOC's story on #LastWord with @Lawrence.
Gut-wrenching moment relayed by Porter:
"I told AOC that I'm a mom so we're gonna be okay in this office for a while."
To which AOC replied "I hope I get to be a mom".

]Rep. Mikie Sherrill is saying that GOP House members "led groups of people through the Capitol Building on a 'reconnaissance' mission one day before the riot that laid a deadly siege on the government's legislative branch."
It never occurred to me that GOP Congressmen would've taken some of these people on a tour of the Capitol before their arrival.
But now it makes total sense.
If true, those members of Congress must be expelled ASAP.
Per comments from @sportsidiocracy and @carogonza it stands to reason that - if true - there would be video footage of these guided tours from 1/5 with members of Congress/staff and the 1/6 insurrectionists.
"In Miami-Dade...more than 7X as many Republicans as Democrats changed their party registrations in the aftermath of the violence. The ratio was almost as high in Palm Beach County." sun-sentinel.com/news/politics/…
A *2nd* data point to show that the GOP is hemorrhaging voters.
In Orange County, CA, they "lost 8x more voters than it gained after the violence in D.C., with 600 GOP voters lost from Wednesday to Friday".
And now a 3rd instance of reporting from Pennsylvania:
"Staff reported a spike in phone inquiries after Wednesday’s riots, and 'virtually all the people calling were people saying ‘I no longer want to be a Republican, how I do change it.’”
There are so many stories about Sen. David Perdue's self-dealing, insider info-laden stock trades that a thread is now necessary in order to keep track.
Next up is the revelation that Perdue used info from his position as Chairman of an Armed Services Subcommittee on Seapower to acquire up to $190K worth of stock in a company that worked on - wait for it - submarines.
