👇Vaccine Updates, a thread🧵

Yesterday we received a regional vaccine report from Kate Schroder, who is acting as Special Advisor to Vaccine Coordination for the @HCollaborative. Our Office wanted to share this information with the public so that you know as much as we do!
1/ Progress to date:

59,000 people have initiated the vaccination process (7.2% of the pop.) in Hamilton County. 824,000 people have initiated the vaccination process (7.05% of the pop.) in Ohio [you can find more on Ohio at the link below].

coronavirus.ohio.gov/wps/portal/gov…
2/ What is the greatest constraint?

Supply. Each week, main vaccine providers in Hamilton County receive ~10K doses allocated across public health departments (City of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co), hospitals (Children’s, Christ, Mercy, TriHealth, UC) & pharmacies (Kroger, CVS, etc)
3/ [Cont'd]

Cincinnati has the capacity to substantially increase the volume of vaccinations in the area, but limited supply has prevented this. Unfortunately, the State of Ohio expects the current rate of supply to be consistent until a 3rd vaccine becomes available.
4/ How has Cincinnati collaborated to make resources available?

To centralize all vaccination information for the Cincinnati area, the City, County, @HCollaborative, hospitals (Children’s, Christ, Mercy, TriHealth, UC) & Kroger worked together to create: healthcollab.org/testandprotect…
5/ [Cont'd]

Check out the website & familiarize yourself with the resource👩‍💻

It includes latest eligibility info*, list of vaccine providers & links/hotlines to register for those eligible; active text/email update sign-ups for those who are not yet eligible.. and more!
6/ Find the internet difficult to access/manage?

You can call 211 (hotline run by United Way, complete w/ reps that specialize in assisting eligible folks with vaccine scheduling/registration)

Or, you can call the Cincinnati Health Dept’s dedicated hotline: 513-357-7462 ☎️
7/ Need a ride to receive your vaccine?

No worries! Transport assistance is available for seniors in SW Ohio who need a ride to their appointment; rides can be requested by calling (855) 546-6352 or by filling out the form linked below 🚗🚐

docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAI…
8/ *Who is currently eligible?

- All aged 70+ (Starting Feb 8th, all 65+)
- Individuals with a developmental disability & qualifying medical condition (details below [#AltText Embedded])
- K-12 school staff (teachers, bus drivers, cafeteria workers, environmental services, etc.) Qualifying medical conditions include: cerebral palsy; spina
9/ [Cont'd]

Vaccination for school staff begins this week (more info on timeline below); you will be contacted by your district/vaccine partner about how and when to schedule appointments.

coronavirus.ohio.gov/wps/portal/gov…
10/ Why is it that some schools/districts are going before others?

In Ohio, K-12 school staff are being vaccinated on a rolling basis in February. The decisions are made by the Ohio Dept of Health and not made locally. Hamilton county is scheduled for the second week of Feb🗓️
11/ What’s the difference between registration and scheduling?

Scheduling is the act of making *an appointment* with a local provider (health system, pharmacy, public health dept, etc.). Registration is similar to being on a waiting list.

You can call 211 if you have more Q's!
12/ Where is the best place to register & schedule an appointment?

Online (TestandProtectCincy.com), over the phone (211 & 513-357-7462), or through MyChart with your health systems ⚕️
13/ How do you schedule your 2nd vaccine dose, if you’ve completed your first?

You will receive your 2nd dose at the *same provider* who provided the first. For Kroger, City of Cincinnati and Hamilton County, patients are called and/or emailed to schedule their second dose ––
14/ [Cont'd]

–– going forward, all providers are updating scheduling systems to be able to schedule the second appointment at the time of the first. But if you are at all concerned, you can always call one of the hotlines to ask questions about scheduling.
15/END

That's all we got folks! You now know as much as we do!

Thank you for being engaged, and to all those who have organized to make this process happen 💙👍
