We do have a few restored or re-created #wetlands areas in the Los Angeles area, most notably the #Malibu Lagoon:

There's also the South Los Angeles #Wetlands Park, opened in 2012, formerly a @metrolosangeles bus yard and #LARy streetcar maintenance facility off of Avalon Blvd:

Down near #Carson, the Bixby Marshland is a 17-acre restored #wetlands park near Figueroa & Sepulveda that opened in 2009, run by the @CountyofLA @SanDistricts:

And just a couple miles south is Ken Malloy Harbor Regional Park, home of 40-acre Lake Machado, a restored #wetlands area in #HarborCity. It, along with Bixby Marshland, was once part of Bixby Slough, a large wetland area near #Wilmington. #WorldWetlandsDay

And finally, down in #LongBeach, the coastal lagoon at the Golden Shore Marine Biological Reserve is all that remains of what was once the #LARiver delta #wetlands. #WorldWetlandsDay

Neighboring #OrangeCounty still has a number of protected native coastal #wetlands: #SealBeach Nat'l Wildlife Refuge, #BolsaChica Ecological Reserve, Huntington WL, Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve, Aliso Creek WL near #LagunaBeach & Pico Park in #SanClemente.

Oops, yes, thanks, forgot about that one! Madrona Marsh in #Torrance is unique in that it's an inland freshwater vernal marsh, not directly related to any coastal/tidal wetlands.

Madrona Marsh offers us a tiny glimpse of the now-gone La Cienega #wetlands, another vernal marsh once located north & east of the #BaldwinHills, which was connected to the Ballona Wetlands. A street name & scant creeks are all that remain of La Cienega today. #WorldWetlandsDay
