Ordered @DoorDash because I am tired, kids are (kind of) doing school remotely, and it was a hard day (this is relative). I walked out with a mask on to grab the food. A mom, a dad, a baby and toddler brought my food. It's almost 7pm. #Thread
On the one hand, I am glad for people that we have a new economy available where people can make money through an app to deliver food and other good to people who need said food and other goods. On the other hand, as I watch the middle class shrink and
The rich get richer and the poor get poorer history tells us this doesn't go well. Also, as a mom whose greatest gift is her two kids (now teenagers)...I look at those babies in the back of a car who maybe should be in bed, warm and cozy and off to sleep
Are instead driving around delivering food so that mom and dad can feed them and pay rent/mortgage...and like I said before...grateful we have these new emerging economies and also devastated because we are not going in the right direction. At all.
People. Everyone who never voted. Everyone who never paid attention to who your city council rep is. Who doesn't know how a bill becomes a law. I know, it's work. I know, it can seem boring or worse, your vote doesn't count. I beg you. Please.
Your vote counts. Your voice needs to be heard. We are moving in a terrible-devastating direction. It doesn't get better from here if we do nothing. It gets worse. So much worse. Please know your vote-your voice-counts. I will die on this hill.
I have been called "PollyAnna" and maybe I am. But we can do better than this. But everybody has to care. Everybody has to pay attention. I'm going to eat with my kids now. But I sit down to eat and I don't feel okay. #EndThread

#Thread Jules is no longer on a ventilator. She died as an ICU nurse this morning from Covid-19. I do this brief thread for her and all of you on the frontlines of a pandemic that has raged out of control with deadly misinformation nationally
and zero coordination and no plan. ---- When we send our troops to war to defend and protect women and children from wartime atrocities, we pray for them, we are grateful for their sacrifice and we hope they return home safely with a successful mission of
Saving lives and restoring peace. When police officers are sent to a home where a child is being abused, or to the scene of a mass shooting, we are grateful our officers are there to save lives and appreciate their sacrifice for putting their own lives
@PeterHotez has a national strategy to contain #Covid and save 100,000 American lives by December 31st. He had to revise his plan as his original plan for containment by October 1st was ignored by the White House. As you both
are aware, the United States has no national strategy, and without leadership and expertise guiding our country, people continue to be become infected and thousands die. On average, as of October 6th, around 919 people per day continue to die of this
novel coronavirus. The daily death toll from seasonal #flu, using prelim max estimates from the 2019-2020 flu season, is an average of almost 332 people. You can go to covidtracking.com to view data.
