Wifey and I try to do a small number consistently (like 5, 7 or 10 applications) a day so it doesn't take up the entire day. Also, we try to filter out (valid) rejection reasons so we avoid such openings next time.
Finally, we look out for the most recurring job roles on a job site/ area/ state or country. That gives you an idea of what jobs are readily available and how your skillset matches up. It can be hard to keep going after so many rejections so it helps to have a friend to rant.
Let's assume you are in #Ireland for e.g.:- google "jobs in Ireland" and click on "What jobs are in high demand in Ireland?". Google will show you a list (This doesn't mean there are no other types of jobs available), it simply means these are the most in-demand jobs at the time.
Then you look at the roles/ skills/ qualifications required and see how that matches up against your current skills/ qualifications. From the results, You may need to acquire new skills, finetune your search, go back to get a degree or leave the country altogether.
E.g.; if the in-demand jobs are coding, programming et al and you only have skills in customer service, you might struggle for much longer longer than others before getting a job. Then, there is the country requirements.
Some countries require that you must have a B.ScM.Sc in that field before you are qualified to be hired. Meaning that no matter how skilled you are or your years of experience, if you dont have an academic degree in that filed, Issa no.
Similar to the previous requirement, other countries insist that you must get a job in the sector you studied in. So e.g.; if you studied real estate but there are jobs in digital marketing or design, even if you are skilled in those areas, you still may not be hired.
Then, there is language- A lot of countries esp. in #Europe dont have English as a first language. Therefore, your ability to speak/ read/ write the language maybe a plus or an hindrance.
And then location- Location plays out in 2 ways: These days, fewer orgs are open to..
...going through the hassles/ paperwork of bringing you into the country. Such jobs still exist but are dwindling by the way. More orgs prefer to hire those who are already within the country.
Another way location plays out- some orgs will not hire you if they deem your address too far from theirs, even if every other thing checks out and you are the perfect candidate. In all, its a lot of loopholes to jump through especially if you are African. Hope this helps someone
I forgot to add that some countries have restrictions on how many foreigners can be hired, which jobs/roles they can get, for how long, whether they can be promoted to certain positions or not. it would be helpful to find out these things in your job search.
Remembered this: In some countries, multinationals are more likely to hire foreigners (maybe because they are foreigners themselves/ intl regulations et al) than indigenous coys. It may be helpful to direct more applications there.
Also, in countries where English is not the first language but there are job sites with English versions, stay on the site with the local language and then use google translate. Sometimes there are more jobs on that end than on the English side.
I am thinking to do a thread of the wildest things that happen in northern #Cyprus universities.
Very crazy stuff! ๐คฃ๐คฆ๐พโโ๏ธ
1. A student had 100% scholarship. Between the dept handling the scholarship and the finance dept, one didnโt notify the other before the registration period expired. So the student got charged by the school for late registration fees and interests on the debts accrued. ๐คฆ๐พโโ๏ธ
2. Dorms are typically a mess in most Unis, most students (esp from Africa) opt out of the dorms after the first semester. A student who opted out of the dorm lost her 100% scholarship immediately. There was no warning beforehand & no notice after it was done either.
@BayoOlorire I smiled as I read your tweet and remembered when I felt this way as well, once. The frustration that ran amok in my bloodlines as a demanded answers from God. I was mad with anger, how dare he?! ๐๐
@BayoOlorire I think you first need to understand what your definitions of โmoreโ are, alongside โsuccessโ and โprosperityโ and โmaking itโ. The earlier in your life you can clarify your definitions correctly especially as a Christian, the easier your path will be and the ligter your steps.
@BayoOlorire Joshua 1:8 KJV; This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have GOOD success.
