Sunak confirming the reason govt let the NHS run the vaccination campaign (instead of filling their cronies' pockets) was to use the (half)-vaccinated numbers as an excuse to reopen the country too early.
Back to herd immunity "Protect the obviously vulnerable f**k the others"
Which, may I remind everyone, is a strategy the virus would actually pay for if it could as, the more cases, the more chances for it to mutate again into a vaccine-resistant variant that would get us ALL back to step 1 -but ATST be a convenient screen from Wrexit effects so well
And also that would help with the "overpopulation" Johnson is so concerned about -What's not to like, an opportunity for the UK to be "world-leading" at something
Also that represents "savings"
The fact someone actually thought appropriate to calculate that tells you all you need to know about what the life of people who are not convenient national symbol (whose money you can waste on unusable stuff) is worth to these people

So while this is still being stirred up
-AZ committed to start the delivery of vaccines a week earlier, with 9m more doses (40m as a whole) and extend its EU production capacity
-Johnson&Johnson (quite similar to AZ, but only 1 jab) vaccine will be there around April
As shown by this sh**show, production capacity is crucial and will now be dealt with better, we might hope
It’s the new plan anyway
Turns out vaccinating the planet is a bit of a pickle, &we ”could” need a global pandemic plan -like if we have to do this all over again next year
ITM wear a mask if not two and observe social distancing
Consider that vaccine full protection isn’t there before the second injection, and that afterwards, even if you are protected from a serious disease, there’s not enough evidence to assert you can’t be infected/infectious.
Quick note here: The EU contract was signed after the U.K. contract, so AZ should have mentioned that priority clause. Instead they said there were under no obligation possibly hindering their best effort to supply the EU.
A lot of sh**show could have been avoided.
The EU reaction was bad, and AZ has a right to set priorities.
But this wasn’t taken into account in EU vaccination plans because the opposite is stated in the contract.
Again a lot of sh**show could have been avoided.
Of course the EU wonders if the money it gave AZ is being used to supply the U.K. first.
The U.K. contract was not published and anyway the payment schedule would be redacted.
But EU’s main problem is it based its vaccination plan on inaccurate, misleading information.
FTR: France has this weird idea that people should get two doses as prescribed by the manufacturer -considering a lengthened delay of 6 weeks between the 2 shots.
Which limits the number of vaccinations, as you can’t get a shot if there’s no guaranteed capacity for the 2nd shot.
Now I’m not going to praise France vaccination program as the most efficient -it isn’t.
It’s honest tho.
Half-vaccinated isn’t fully vaccinated, and it doesn’t s**k to plan for the 2nd dose to be taken into account. covidtracker.fr/vaccintracker/
Aside from that I’m superfine with countries doing good at vaccinating people because ultimately we all need to be protected.
I consider it more a matter for joint, collective effort than competition is all.
*Really* well
Could be that too many successful disinformation/influence ops worldwide made the tsar a little too confident in his ”unchallengeable power”
In other news, to avoid the situation mirroring Belarus’, Navalny’s wife has been preemptively arrested.
The Kremlin’s plan seems to be to put all opposition figures in jail -together with a lot of random protesters- and hope despair and the feeling of helplessness will prevail
Govt: ”We are working closely with British meat processors to ensure they can take advantage of the opportunities and changes being outside the SM&CU will bring, and overall businesses are adjusting well to the new rules and continue to trade effectively." bbc.com/news/business-…
Questions: 1/ What opportunities? Any example of any business that took advantage of the current situation? 2/ Any example of the overall businesses adjusting well and continuing to trade effectively?
Asking because I checked the Sun Mail Express etc cover & it wasn’t on it.
Any chance the ”More business for Russia” has been delivered yet?
