Really hard not to be wound up by gov limp response to #CladdingScandal question on #BBCQT

1) ACM is NOT the “most dangerous” it is just the first type of dangerous cladding that came to the government’s attention
2) It’s not just cladding. Missing fire breaks in 000s building - which would allow fire to spread fast - are clear sign of systemic failure. But not included in Government funding
3) Leaseholders are ALREADY paying thousands of £s every day for enforced interim measures.
4) the Gov funding available will only help only a small fraction of buildings. There is NO HELP for all other buildings. And only funds part of the safety measures needed.
5) If Gov’s big plan is to “loan” the money to leaseholders so we can pay AGAIN for the apartments we bought that we’re SIGNED OFF as safe... this would literally be state sponsored mugging. It’s not a solution.

For just over a year now I’ve known the building I live in is dangerously unsafe.

I’ve spent £8k for people to be on site but not make it any safer.
I’ve spent £3k on a temporary alarm.
I’ve spent £1k on additional insurance.
I’ve spent countless sleepless nights.

I’ve spent countless hours learning about fire safety and leasehold law.

I’ve sent countless emails to my freeholder, managing agent and to government. Most without reply.
I’ve met fellow leaseholders.

I’ve heard how their lives are being disrupted, their relationships strained and their hopes for the future threatened.

I’ve not met anyone who hasn’t paid a high price - personally and actually - already.
