1/ My response to the recent letter from CollingwoodFC players:
I don’t doubt the sincerity of players when they say they are ashamed of staying silent and have been shocked by the contents of the leaked #CFCDoBetter report. However, a few things should be noted:
2/ It’s strange that young players - who are not responsible for the administration and culture of the club - have issued an unconditional statement acknowledging harm when the management and leadership of the club have yet to do so.
3/ ‘All staff and players’ surely includes black players and staff, as well as players and staff of colour. Why should they be apologising for racism?
4/ Do the ‘120 staff’ who apparently support the statement include people from Collingwood’s PR team like Stephen Rielly, who have actively tried to discredit me over the past few years?
5/ Unfortunately, this feels like the club using the genuine sentiment of some players and staff as a tool for damage control. This explains the lukewarm public response to the letter.
6/ I continue to be overwhelmed by Collingwood members and fans expressing their shame and remorse over the club’s past, as well as their frustrations that the club cannot simply do the same.

1/ Thanks to the First Nations and African journalists who have been instrumental in pushing my story forward - please give them a follow and retweet/ share:
2/ @amymcquire published this exclusive in the Guardian yesterday which confirms that Eddie McGuire announced his resignation just days after receiving a draft version of the report:
1) I’m grateful to all the people who have reached out to me in support - including CFC members and supporters - as well as all those who have challenged the Collingwood Football Club’s bizarre response to their own report finding them guilty of systemic racism.
2) It was painful to watch the club dig itself deeper into delusion and dishonesty at today’s press conference. #CfcDoBetter
3) Eddie McGuire’s inability to let go of the illusion he’s constructed of himself does not serve the Club, the code, or the community. It’s a pity his final year looks like it will be marked by yet another self-inflicted racism scandal.
1. Thank you for the overwhelming support I have received from Australia and around the world, especially from Collingwood fans who I represented on the field for 10 years. Thank you, as always, to Leon, Andrew, Chris and Shae for standing with me.
2. Thank you to former teammates who have reached out privately to support me. In a moment where Black people worldwide are demanding justice and dignity, I ask that you stand with me publicly now.
3. To my former teammates who have contacted me, terrified that I will expose them, my purpose has never been to name and shame individuals. I want accountability from institutions - CFC and the AFL, whose job it is to ensure an inclusive workplace.
1. Interesting that Collingwood is now shifting its narrative to claim that they are trying to 'reach out' to me. Let me very clear: I have no intention of sitting down with anyone until they publicly acknowledge some fundamental facts. afl.com.au/news/447409/-i…
2. Why a public acknowledgement? Because I have been discredited publicly. I don’t want a private handshake. I want justice for how I was treated. That includes correcting public denials about my account of the racism & isolation I faced.
3. How can Nathan Buckley claim he ‘didn’t hear’ the ‘chimp’ nickname? I sat through a torturous, 8-hour, 1-on-1 mediation with him, where I had to explain to him why I was affected? How can I take him on his word now? He is yet to correct the record?
