Short Term Strategy - Due to limited domestic capacity for vaccine production in Canada, we knew we needed to move quickly to secure vaccines from the most promising candidates (out of over 200 worldwide). Our diverse portfolio is composed of mostly international suppliers!
Medium Term Strategy - We knew that rebuilding 🇨🇦‘s domestic bio manufacturing capacity was going to require expert advice, a rigorous process, significant and strategic investment in Canadian companies, and time to build facilities. ISED, NRC and Health 🇨🇦 have been hard at work
Four major projects are worth highlighting b/c they will significantly increase Canada’s bio manufacturing capacity. We knew this was going to take time and but knowing full well that COVID-19 was going to be with us for a long time, we knew we needed to build back our capacity!
