Guys, there is no such thing as "Stabilizer" muscles.
This is a Bro myth thats been repeated 10 million times and no questions it.
Every muscle that performs any muscular action contributes to stabilization, big to small
It makes no sense logically to consider that stability of any joint is determinant on the smallest muscles that attach to that joint,
Joints lose their stability and function when the bigger muscles get injured
Joints like the shoulders and hip can continue to function even when there is damage to the smaller "stabilizer" muscles
The shoulder in particular is infamous for this
Joints themselves are held together by ligaments. Ligaments tears are when joints WILL feel "unstable"
Free weights can require more global stability overall due to the body being the leverage point for balancing the weight all the muscles must coordinate globally to do this
Ironically much of "free weight" technique is REDUCING the need to stabilize the load in the first place
But what about ROTATOR CUFF exercises!!
One of you is going to huh huh with this shit
Paradigm buster-the exercises that work "stabilizer" muscle are fine motor coordination movements that specifically target small muscle articulation...
The increase in joint functionality is because classical free weight exercises are gross movements patterns that generally neglect the full range of muscular functionality in many joints
You take small exercises that train a segmental range of movement that you've neglected
The IRONY to a lot of "stabilizer" exercises is that the people doing them are DYSFUNCTIONAL and lack full muscular range of motion in many of their joints because they trained with nothing but bilateral exercises
You can get "strong" at barbell squatting, and SUCK at lunges
You know why your rotator cuff is weak?
Because you overtrained chest and shoulders and completely neglected upper back and posterior delt development
No shit you suck at rotational shoulder exercises you never do with muscles you never train, how shocking
This is another irony with "Free weights work the stabilizers!!"
Guys say this shit but get their panties in a knot when presented with unilateral movements
No one wants to do split squats, because now they got to BALANCE & their groin is tight & the weights are lighter
Oh, I thought you wanted to work your ability to stabilize?
Apparently not.
Fun fact: the more stable the exercise, the higher the force output
Hurt your feelings fact: machines allow for higher force output in the target muscles because the stability demands are minimal
“But Free weights recruit more muscles!!!
Which ones? The muscles you’re trying to selectively target? Or global muscle recruitment because you need to stabilize the load
When the liberal arguments start against banning it because the woke mind control cannot allow it, feel free to throw this at them and abuse them with it
They'd do the same to you if they could. (and they will)
1. Compulsory general education. In the German Reich there is compulsory education. It secures the education and instruction of German youth in the spirit of National Socialism...
It is subject to all children and adolescents of German nationality who are domiciled or habitually resident in the country. Compulsory education must be fulfilled by attending a German school. Exceptions are decided by the school inspectorate.
