Reminder: one person at wedding in Maine with 53 guests infected 27 guests.

Those 27 people infected at least 176 people over the next 38 days (a county jail 220 miles away, a rehab center 100 miles away).

Seven of those 176 people DIED.

IF we had effective contact tracing (pretty much impossible given the scale of the infection in the US) - then everyone of these maskless partiers should be held accountable for everyone else they sicken, especially those who die.

WHY IS THIS NOT CRIMINAL NEGLIGENCE?
In ME, the wedding party flouted state rules.
The bar where the reception was held flouted state rules.

In FL, the Governor insists no rules are needed. Tampa Mayor Jane Castor promised: We are making sure this is a safe event for everyone."
Yeah, right.
#SuperSpreaderBowl
Tampa Mayor Jane Castor tried to close bars last year to stop the spread of COVID-19. Santos basically said hell no.

She "signed an executive order mandating the use of face coverings outdoors in areas downtown and near the stadium designated for events tied to the Super Bowl."
"Super Bowl week, the city will enforce its face mask ordinance inside bars." 😂

No masks or distancing in sight in that video, Mayor Castor. #superbowlspreader #SuperSpreaderBowl #SuperBowlLV

And this is WAY too many real people, Tampa.

During the regular season, the stadium allowed about 14,000 fans. There are 22,000 spectators at the Super Bowl. WTH?
Yeah, 7,500 are health workers who received both doses of a vaccine. But WHEN did they get dose two?

VACCINATION MEANS only that they are unlikely to get REALLY sick. Not that they can't transmit the virus.

South Florida has the most cases w/highly contagious UK B117 variant
I thought we'd have the good sense not to have any contact team sports this year. I was wrong.

The final score for this #SuperSpreaderBowl will be COVID19 100 - USA 0.

Kinda like the score has been since 01/21/2020.

US ~3% world population; 1-in-4 covid cases, 1-in-5 deaths.

This chapel isn’t really “the geographic center” of the continental US, despite getting that label in 1918. It appears, as a @TripAdvisor review states, ‘conservative’.

To The ReUnited States of America was one of the most trite ads I’ve seen, @Jeep. Ever.

I’m weary of rural America being singled out as the “real” America.

Just as I’m weary of news orgs sending reporters “to the middle” of the country for ‘anthropologic’ stories.
The ad starts with a weathered boot and moves on to a nondenominational chapel that seats eight and that superimposes a cross on a map of the country.

WE ARE NOT A ‘CHRISTIAN’ NATION. WE HAVE NO STATE RELIGION.

This was Tampa after midnight Saturday/Sunday.

SuperBowl = SuperSpreaderEvent

@LuisSantana “This is officially the wildest I’ve ever seen Ybor. EVER. 1:40am.” #SBLV
It’s not the STANDS where COVID can run wild.

It’s the STREETS.

Biden’s “prove negative before flying” is useless against this madness. #SBLV

Important scorecard:
13 GOP Senators voted against Mayor Pete’s confirmation. Look at their states to understand the vote had not a damn thing to do with qualifications.

AL, Richard Shelby, Tommy Tuberville
AR, Tom Cotton
FL, Marco Rubio, Rick Scott
KS, Roger Marshall

13 Senators voted against Mayor Pete's confirmation as Transportation Secretary /2

LA, Bill Cassidy
MO, Josh Hawley
OK, James Lankford
SC, Tim Scott
TN, Marsha Blackburn, Bill Hagerty
TX, Ted Cruz
Blackburn, Cruz, Scott (FL) were the only three members who voted against moving his nomination out of the Senate Commerce Committee (21-3).

Their opposition to Buttigieg rests on their opposition to Biden’s transportation goals. Which means it rests on nothing rational.

Dear @nytimes
STOP QUOTING DERANGED LIARS.

You do not have to repeat Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) claims in order to write about yet another preposterous attempt to overthrown election results. Over. And. Over.

The most IMPORTANT part of this story -- historical context -- is buried: Nixon and Gore's behavior as VPs.
Also, this is BS. It doesn't "darken" Biden. It darkens the GOP.

"If even one Republican senator backed the effort, it could ensure that the partisan cloud hanging over the election would darken Mr. Biden’s presidency for years to come"

Context for Epstein’s demeaning @wsj op-ed — his style since 1970 (@Harpers, Sept). <“Epstein is saying genocide for queers!”>

He has been rewarded for saying out loud what NYC “intellectuals” believe for 50 years.
