The USA is deciding who Ecuador's candidates are
Ecuador's National Electoral Council is supposed to determine who the candidate will be in round 2 of the election.

But before there are official results, the US embassy called Yaku Pérez and said he will be the candidate.

Venezuela already has a democratic gov't. But the US forced the right-wing political forces it bankrolls and controls in the country to boycott recent elections, then refused to recognize the results.

When the US calls for new elections, it means "elections the left doesn't win"
The Biden admin's Venezuela strategy has similarities with Reagan's war on Nicaragua.

The US demanded elections, so Nicaragua had free elections in 1984. The Sandinistas won.

So the US crushed Nicaragua with a terror war and blockade until the Sandinistas lost the 1990 election

The Israeli apartheid regime admitted to bombing Syria at least 50 times in 2020, and it got very little coverage.

And this is likely a very conservative estimate. An ex IDF general admitted in 2019 that Israel had attacked "thousands" of targets in Syria

Nicaragua's President Daniel Ortega gave a fiery speech tonight marking 14 years of the return of the socialist Sandinista Front in elections.

Condemning US imperialism in Latin America, he called the USA a "bipartisan dictatorship" run by corporations that kills the Indigenous.
Ortega criticized US meddling in Latin America, recalling William Walker, the US colonialist who invaded Nicaragua in 1856, declaring himself dictator.

Ortega condemned today's absurd US designation of Cuba as a sponsor of "terrorism" as a continuation of that colonial history.
Ortega cited legendary Nicaraguan poet Rubén Darío, who condemned US imperialism in Latin American way back in the early 1900s.

Ortega condemned the undemocratic US Electoral College, joking that if Nicaragua or any other country adopted it they would not be called a democracy.
