How can you answer a question on international law, or any law, with “legalities aside”? Biden admin showing you they’re identical to Trump’s. Israel has been illegally occupying the Syrian Golan Heights since 1967. This is in violation of intl law & UNSC resolutions 242 and 497.
The US has a permanent seat on the UN Security Council. It didn't use its veto power for those resolutions– as a matter of fact both resolutions were passed unanimously by all 15 members on the council at the time. The US is a party to those agreements and must abide by them.
israel stakes its claim as a legitimate state on the fact that it is a member state of the United Nations– while flagrantly violating any UN resolutions that concern its behaviour. What a great deal.
But none of that is new. We've known that for decades. What's interesting here is how Blinken sounds identical to Pompeo and every Sec of State before them. Will the people who called the new admin "the lesser of two evils" ever admit to that? No because they're dunces and hacks.
"We think israel should annex Syrian land because we don't like who's in charge there" is an amazing admission to make on live television but of course people are taught to internalize American and israeli supremacy, so that others don't appear human or equal to them.
And in case this wasn't blindingly obvious: Assad wasn't the president, nor was his father when israel stole the Golan Heights in 1967. This is just a bullshit excuse to squeeze Syria and push for regime change, just like they are occupying and stealing the oil in the North East.
In case you are wondering what makes the Golan Heights special: water, snow, oil, its strategic location, an incredible vantage point overlooking the Sea of Galilee. They will come up with every reason under the sun to justify their illegal occupation and theft of Syria's land.

After Mossadegh nationalized Iran's oil, he was ousted in a coup by the CIA and MI6. Abadan was the world's largest oil refinery, built by the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company, which the UK govt owned.

A year later they changed its name to what you all know as British Petroleum (BP).
That 1953 coup in Iran was followed immediately by a coup the next year in Guatemala. In 1954 the CIA ousted Guatamalan President Jacobo Árbenz because his agrarian reforms hurt the profits of United Fruit Company, known today as Chiquita.
tldr: people are not allowed to do things because greedy, white capitalists want to subjugate them and steal their shit

I'm not sure where U.S. & E.U. diplomats get off thinking they can participate in protests like Bob Ford did in Syria, or more recently what we saw in Russia.

Can you imagine Russian, Syrian or Lebanese diplomats participating in rallies in the US? We'd never hear the end of it.
This is well beyond the official purview of a diplomatic mission and considered in very poor taste at best. What it really comes down to is meddling in the internal affairs of a host country while serving as a representative of another govt. It's frankly outrageous.
US politicians have been screaming about how their beloved Capitol was attacked in an insurrection meanwhile the US Embassy in Moscow is openly posting protest routes for people taking to the streets. And then they whine about foreign interference from Russia. Stunning hypocrisy.

Indeed. A lot of this weird stuff I see in the US is so far removed from the original Christian faith and how it's practiced in the Levant, where it originated.
i.e. someone on cable yesterday rambling on about how Mike Pence is a "religious man"... okay. Lol.
I meant e.g.*

Another funny one is Rubio. He's so concerned about protecting Syrian & Iraqi Christians he wants to keep us under occupation...? Nah, we're doing fine actually if you just leave us alone lol. The man seems to be very confused

Breaking reports that Syrian air defences are responding to israeli airstrikes in Hama.
If Syria bombed israel every week there would be a world war but of course they get special treatment from US & co

During 2005, US and coalition forces killed an average of 1-2 Iraqi civilians every single day. We know this thanks to Chelsea Manning @xychelsea @wikileaks and @iraqbodycount. This is why Julian Assange is in prison.

Keep in mind this is just 1-2 civilians in EOF incidents. The real, total figure of civilian casualties is undoubtedly much higher.
"US Marines fired 30 rounds at a vehicle that broke a “no penetration line” while approaching their post. The vehicle contained a family of a father, mother and four daughters. The mother was killed, while the father and 3 of the kids sustained injuries."

Talk about backtracking on supporting a white supremacist coup lol. ImageImage
It's bewildering how US lawmakers are able to rightfully point out and criticise white supremacy and violent insurrections at home but not when their party colleagues do it to other countries, and perpetuate never-ending conflict and misery. Staggering hypocrisy.
