It was in January of 2019 during a first Sunday service of the year he was made Men's Fellowship leader.

The gathering of men was poor and the commitment from them was nothing to write home about.

Time and time again, the Pastor called for Men to sit up but no response.
The previous leader was a fantastic man who had grown weary and discouraged due to life's challenges. The financial strain on him was too much.

He tried. He really did but it was never enough.

When he was to step down, the Pastor asked him "Who will take over?".
He didn't hesitate - "Brother X" he said.

The Pastor called Brother X immediately he got into church and informed him.

"You will be the new Men's Fellowship leader" said the Pastor.

Brother X laughed because on the last week of December, the Holy Spirit already told him.
"You don't sound surprised and now you're laughing?" said the Pastor as he also smiled.

That Sunday, the Pastor called him out and anointed him. It was with mixed feeling as many were used to the previous men's leader.

Many came and shook hands with him and then Brother X...
...felt the weight of many men on his shoulder.

He spent the week praying and asking the Holy Spirit how he should proceed and then the entrance of the WORD brought light and understanding - PRAY AND GRILL.

A Men's gathering outside the church but in homes.

A good idea.
Why?

He discovered a lot of men weren't too comfortable in church hence the idea to use the house of Brothers.

It was like the Apostles of Old. Going from house to house breaking bread. The house never mattered so far they allowed us to use it.

The first meeting was to hold.
He visited the past President and told him his plans. He bought into it and immediately.

He pledged an amount and called two other brothers who also pledged an amount.

Brother X called another Brother and requested for the use of his house - "Yes! My house is open for use".
Everything was set.

The brother who was to grill had gotten everything. Drinks. Fruit salad. Cake.

Everything was set.

As he was praying that morning, the Holy Spirit told him - There would be 10 of you. The 10th person will come very late but no worries.
After much discussion, the men stood up to hold hands and immediately hands were linked, it felt like the house of Cornelius when Peter was speaking but this time, it was the Holy Spirit waiting for them.

The previous Men's leader had stopped praying in tongues 3 years ago...
He told Brother X that much and Brother X said "The Holy Spirit never left you, you simply went mute on Him but soon, you shall receive the fire".

As they held hands, the power of God came over him and he went into deep tongues!

It was glorious!
Five of the men who had never spoke in tongues scattered everywhere with their tongues.

At 7:55PM, the 10th brother walked and immediately he joined hands, The power of God magnified.

Tongues and Interpretations!

Men were sobbing and saying "I love you Lord".
The wife of the host started crying hearing her husband burst in tongues and declare God's love.

Men were kneeling and weeping and then God spoke through the previous leader - "I have waited for you to gather because men ought to gather and pray but you didn't".
"You complain of my silence yet you walk and dwell in unbelief and disobedience - Have you not seen that I have been waiting? Have you not seen, My Sons".

The last brother that joined took up a song and that was how they sang until another round of prophecies came.
The gathering became a regular thing and the attendance jumped from 10 to 45. The third PRAY AND GRILL took place under the Open Heavens - It rained heavily in both dimensions.

After that ministration, women started testifying of the changes in their husbands.

The men...
Started coming to church early and many who were unemployed got good offers. Businesses that were suffering started to flourish.

Church attendance grew. The church was able to pay of certain backlogs and in no time, the car park became too small.

The women's fellowship revived.
I have seen first hand what God can do when men gather to pray - Nothing beats it!

So many men out there are lost in the wilderness of life. Many are caught in strange webs and realities.

Some are lost and downcast.

Some, too far to hear the Master's voice.
I have seen a lot in my few years on earth and all I have seen has made me yearn for a gathering of men that would bring God glory.

Too many things have gone wrong because men have left God. Many have pursued money at the expense of the peace in their houses.

Divorce is at...
...an all time high. Domestic violence? Strange women? What of men caught in the web of demonic manipulation?

Beloved, men ought to gather and pray.

In view of this and many other factors, the Holy Spirit has instructed me to raise a gathering of men that he may bring them...
into SONSHIP.

It is called - THE HEARTH.

Here, the Holy Spirit will be gathering misfits like he gathered men unto David for the purpose of His kingdom.

Do you desire this fellowship? Do you want to pray and see changes? Is your marriage about to end?

Every man has a story. Our stories are what makes us human. The stories that interest me the most are those in which the Holy Spirit changes the course of one’s life.

I recall his story.

A new party had finally taken over the political sphere of the country.
There was so much jubilation but with it came a witch-hunt on those who were enjoying the dividends of the previous administration.

EFCC didn’t waste time. His accounts were frozen and he was invited and grilled.

His passport was seized.
Things took a downward spiral and life became difficult.

His wife had to get several loans to assist where necessary and that took a toll on her.

An assistant branch manager who still took Tricycle to work daily. The children had to change schools.

There are times in church we must yield to the move of the Spirit simply because there are certain things He wants to handle personally.

I once attended a church where if sin and hell isn’t preached, the service was not considered “hot”.
The Pastor was a good man but he really wanted to bring people to Christ but his approach was worrisome.

He would bring up certain OT teachings and tie it to issues church members were facing.

After the service, everyone was somber and “cut to the heart”.
People would come for altar call but after that service, you won’t see them again.

“The wages of sin is death...” and under my breath, I’ll whisper “and the gift of God is everlasting life”.

The church wasn’t growing and even the ministers were weary.

He was praying one morning when he saw a strange revelation. He was on a platform and hanging above his head was a hangman noose.

Suddenly, the platform started rising and his neck was almost in the noose when he woke up.

He asked the Holy Spirit what it meant.
“There’s a trap being set for you by members of the fellowship”. The Holy Spirit told him.

“Oh! What do I do?” He asked.

“When they come with their allegations and their demand for you to relinquish the leadership of the fellowship, relinquish and don’t argue”.
He had taken over the budding fellowship in the core North; a fellowship that had 5 centers all around the North.

The fellowship grew from 5 centers to 100 centers under his leadership but certain EXCOS weren’t happy he was becoming prominent.

Two days later, they summoned him.

Everyone in church knew him. He was a difficult man and would make boast of this.

“Even Pastor sef know say I stubborn”. He once boasted.

“Sir, you can’t reason with my husband! Many have tried including Pastor and he hasn’t changed”. His wife said.
He had a drinking problem; that much was evident. His eyes always looking beady.

Even with the AC in church, he would sweat like someone who was running a marathon.

He had an easy smile but at the edge of that smile was a man with a fierce temper.
He would beat his wife and send her out of the home. His teenage sons never wanted to be around him and he knew this so he made life difficult for them.

Several times have the Pastor, a wonderful and kind hearted man, done to entreat him speaking love to him.

It was some days to Christmas and as a TEAM, they had just finished an intervention for a brother. He was still mulling over certain revelations from the prayers when his wife got a call.

It was from a colleague who was in distress and was crying over the phone in confusion.
"They just chased me out of the house I was staying...again".

The young lady had a history of rejection wherever she went to and even when she got a job, she was so surprised because she was rejected everywhere.

It was in her place of employment she met his wife.
His wife quickly gave him a breakdown and he told her "Let her come to the house in the morning".

By 7:30AM, she was in the house.

Immediately he saw her, he asked her "How old are you?"

"26" she responded.

She actually looked 40. Her responses didn't alarm him.

There's this young couple I have known for a while. I see the way they dote on each other.

It is very rare you see the husband without the wife and even if the wife appeared first, the husband was never far behind.

During church service you would see them eyeing each other.
I recall during a Sunday Service in which his wife was to take the Bible Reading, I could remember him blowing her a phantom kiss as she climbed the pulpit.

It was her blush and smile that made me look at him only to see him making faces at her.

It was beautiful.
As Men's fellowship leader back then, I teased him a lot and told him in all honesty how many men are learning how to treat their wives.

He sighed and said "Bro., it was not always like that initially. Our first year as a married couple was a disaster".
