@IlhanMN I'm going to write about the complexity of the situation. There's a danger in dismissing information to concentrate on a single trait of what is NOT a monolithic demographic, no matter how much some us want to portray them as a monolithic demographic.
@IlhanMN Does white supremacy color much of the rhetoric shared by this group? Absolutely. Has our suicidal economy helped radicalize these seditionists? I GUARANTEE IT.
@IlhanMN Community disintegration, the loss of our manufacturing base and increasing inequality in the greater context of institionalized racism have created a deeply resentful group of newly-minted fascist radicals who tried to kill you, and you want us to limit our search criteria?
@IlhanMN I wasn't surprised to find so many former union-wage and middle-class former Democrats were at the Capitol on the 6th. Catholics have also become increasingly radicalized. You could partially be dealing with the "white flight" demographic and their children.
@IlhanMN Their economic circumstances may have improved over the last three decades, but I've been hearing their conversations over the last thirty years. My neighborhood was one of the places that fell into ruin due to a combination of commodified housing and systemic racism.
@IlhanMN In the eighties, some of those folks were racist and a lot of them weren't, but it doesn't matter now because most of have devolved into fucking Nazis and they dragged their children with them.
@IlhanMN It adds up, if you ask me. Roger Stone hails from a working-class, Catholic background on the fringes of an urban setting. He knew he could twist that knife, so he did, with predictable results.
@IlhanMN By no means does this "white flight" demographic dominate the group that appeared on the 6th, but to assume they weren't effected by our economy is a mistake.
@IlhanMN I don't like them any more than you, but we do ourselves a disservice if we approach this threat with politics in one hand and an aversion to criticizing the foundation of our socioeconomic and political system in another.
@IlhanMN We should be investigating this threat with the curiosity, rigor and observational acumen of ethnographers.
@IlhanMN This world is alienating, confusing, selfish, bitter, callous, divisive, feckless, thoughtless, selfish, compulsive, self-destructive, cancerous, dangerous, desperate, nearly extinct, and PEOPLE IN POSITIONS OF AUTHORITY MADE IT THAT WAY ON PURPOSE.
@IlhanMN It doesn't take much to twist the anger I feel into something dangerous given a more insecure, less inquisitive and less empathetic individual, and hate is easy to channel for a small group of rich, well-connected sociopaths who equally regard all people as objects.

Trump SHOULD be convicted. He SHOULD be tried for crimes against humanity. The Senate SHOULD convict, but they won’t with a two-thirds majority and a bunch of gold-bricking fascists in the Senate.
A concerted effort to reverse 70 years of failed policy that dragged this nation to the brink of ruin is of primary importance, but under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should Trump be allowed to run for office again.

@AdamSerwer So the former director of the CIA wants to torture suspects of domestic violence extremism by way of hooding, kenneling, shackling, waterboarding and sleep deprivation.
@AdamSerwer He wants to indefinitely detain Americans without habeas corpus and loan them to foreign bad actors, who process them using more severe and invasive forms of torture.
@AdamSerwer He wants to level American cities with irradiated ammunition, causing birth defects across an entire generation in a single locality.

The world in which we were born, which is man-made, is bad for our health. "Progress" was originally used to describe the intersections of Capital and "technological innovation," which has always been the sick obsession of delusional, cowardly, rich men.
It's no longer uniformly used this way, and is often employed with flippant regard for the word, its history and meaning, which leads to confusion: The Tower of Babel.
So, humans made a world that is callous, confusing and lonely. How and why?

Jim Henson's sense of humor is evolved.
He was into surrealism; go figure. He likes to break the fourth wall. Kermit's on the same plane as Ferris Bueler, except Kermit has lived there longer. One of the puppets' eyes are pockets. I like how hippies painted their cars. What is Gonzo? An anteater? The Set animal?
Jim Henson always loved a good clever pun.

"Why are there so many
Songs about rainbows
And what's on the other side?
Rainbows are visions
But only illusions
And rainbows have nothing to hide
So we've been told and some choose to believe it
I know they're wrong wait and see"
"Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection
The lovers, the dreamers and me
Who said that every wish
Would be heard and answered
When wished on the morning star?"

@miamimellymel @Elton55Tony @hugolowell If it gets to that point, we may be looking at World War 3.
@miamimellymel @Elton55Tony @hugolowell I wanted to enlist, but I wasn't going to fight for a government I couldn't trust. If a young man in his teens could see such obvious deceit, why not Congress? Well, a lot of people did. We protested.
@miamimellymel @Elton55Tony @hugolowell But we sure as shit didn't storm Congress. It was more like a parade.
