One major weakness of the WHO investigation was that there was no other ongoing investigation that could hold it accountable or that WHO could use as leverage to force more transparency from China. No, the Lancet investigation headed by Peter Daszak obvs doesn't count.
They say a full report from @WHO will come soon, but we don't have to wait on their every move. If there's any political will, internationally, to launch an actual investigation, we should do that and give the world some options besides @WHO and @TheLancet.
There have been investigations by the intelligence communities of some countries, but is the approach to just shoot down public investigation findings by @WHO whenever they slip up? Even I think this is unfair to the @WHO - if there's good intelligence on the origins, share it.
