Wtf, there's a patch to enable EAX effects in Thief in modern Windows on all soundcards?!?!?!
Holy fuck, I might as well replay Thief now. Have you ever played Thief with an EAX enabled sound card? Because if you haven't, you really should. It's crazy how much better the experience is, and that it was limited to a certain sub-section of hardware.
I'm actually wondering how many of my followers played Thief with EAX. Let's do a poll!
Have you played Thief 1 or 2 with an EAX capable sound card?
I have never played System Shock 2 with EAX enabled, but I'm not looking to make System Shock 2 even more terrifying.

The Muppet CD-ROM: Muppets Inside (Windows 9x, 1996) #NotDOS ImageImageImageImage
"Muppets Inside" has a pretty funny intro that interacts with your Windows desktop 😄
You get to interact with many different muppets throughout the game, but you main companions are Fozzie and Kermit

Lore: my family's last name was changed from a somewhat noble to a more common one because one of my ancestors insulted a high ranking officer as a soldier.
I was unable to confirm this because my family history for some reason only goes back so much, which can kind of be explained by that lore, but it still sounds like bullshit to me.
Anyway, until I confirm otherwise, I come from a long line of village peasants.

Братья Пилоты. По следам полосатого слона/Pilot Brothers: On the Track of Striped Elephant/Pilots Bros: After the Striped Elephant (Windows 3.x/Windows 9x, 1997) #NotDOS #RussianVideogames ImageImageImageImage
This short and (somewhat) sweet point & click adventure-puzzle game was based on a Soviet animated mini-series "Kolobkis Are On The Case" from 1986-1987.
If the animation style looks familiar to you, it's because animation direction was done by Igor Kovalyov, who later went on to work for Klasky Csupo where he worked on Aaahh!!! Real Monsters and The Rugrats Movie, as well as creating the title sequence for Duckman.

Huh. This new "disturbing" Pinocchio actually looks like it's following the source material surprisingly closely, and the tone feels strangely appropriate.
And I guess Roberto Benigni is now the only film actor to have played both Geppetto and Pinocchio throughout his career?
I guess now is as good of a time as any to show off Buratino, the Soviet Pinocchio. Image

Ok, it's Sunday, and I'm bored, so get ready for a thread of pre-release Duke Nukem 3D screenshots! #DOSGaming Image
These are dated 05/10/1995, nearly a full year before the release of the full registered version. This is clearly still in the LameDuke (Dec 94/Jan 95) territory, but you can see it begin to develop into Duke 3D with its toilet stalls, and the shrink ray ImageImageImageImage
These are dated 05/18/1995, and look, the status bar is taking shape ImageImage

You know what? Fuck it. I'm gonna grab a cover disc from a Russian computer magazine from July of 2000, and see what's on it!
Actually, you know what? Instead of using the actual CD I'm gonna download its ISO with a download manager!!! *Maniacal laugh*
Oh baby, here we goooooo!
