Heat Signature ($7.49) - it'd be easy to pitch this as "hotline miami in space" and have that get people on board, but there's much more. do sci-fi Looney Tunes murders and escape by having your ship waiting outside when you depressurize the whole cabin. store.steampowered.com/app/268130/Hea… ImageImageImageImage
Super House Of Dead Ninjas ($1.39) - an arcade style game that's great for when you just wanna kill 15-30 minutes to an hour. descend through hundreds of floors in a race against the clock while chaining as many kills of enemies for high score as you can! store.steampowered.com/app/224820/Sup… ImageImageImageImage
Kingsway ($3.99) - not simply inspired by Windows 95 aesthetics, Kingsway literally uses a knockoff of it as part of the core gameplay. cast magic, defeat monsters, round up loot, all by clicking and managing lots of windows at once in this roguelike. store.steampowered.com/app/588950/Kin… ImageImageImageImage
Pool Panic ($3.74) - billiards, but Not. a puzzler-ish(?) game having you control both the ball and the stick as you wander around trying to get all the goddamn red balls into holes. What The Golf? fans may wanna check this out. store.steampowered.com/app/522240/Poo… ImageImageImageImage
Double Dragon Neon ($2.49) - Wayforward delivers their own goofy take on the Double Dragon series, and i'll admit upfront, it's something of a mixed bag, but still more good than bad and played with a friend it's a BLAST. has a killer soundtrack too! store.steampowered.com/app/252350/Dou… ImageImageImageImage
it's especially worth checking out if you were a fan of River City Girls, as there's a lot of shared blood there, and also if you wondered "is that a buff papyrus" - no, it's Skullmageddon from Double Dragon Neon! ImageImage
The Fall ($1.99) - you are ARID, the AI that operates a power suit that has crash landed on a planet, leaving the human inside of you unresponsive. push through the rusty, churning gears of a cruel abandoned planet to try and save them in time. store.steampowered.com/app/290770/The… ImageImageImageImage
Battle Chef Brigade ($7.99) - brawlers, match three puzzlers, anime, and Iron Chef all come together to bring you this! harvest ingredients by combat and cook to perfection to meet the judge's tastes, fighting your way into the chef brigade! store.steampowered.com/app/452570/Bat… ImageImageImageImage
Ancient Enemy ($8.99) - y'all thought Shadowhand up earlier in the list looked intriguing? why not try the next game by the same devs? a combat solitare RPG set in a world of magic and decay - Slay the Spire and Puzzle Quest fans, check it out! store.steampowered.com/app/993790/Anc… ImageImageImageImage
We Know The Devil ($1.59) - an atmospheric, unnerving VN about 3 teens stuck at a christian summer camp that is deeply familiar and yet completely unreal. choose who stays and who goes. hear the devil. be blessed by the voice in the static. store.steampowered.com/app/435300/We_… ImageImageImageImage
Momodora: Reverie Under The Moonlight: ($3.99) - i recommended the Momodora games earlier in the Minoria rec. let me repeat and emphasize that rec here. metroidvania with touhou art inspo and razor sharp controls for a great challenge and atmosphere. store.steampowered.com/app/428550/Mom…
and it's down to the last hour of the steam sale now, so... i think that'll finally finish off this rec thread! i love doing these, and i'll do 'em again the next big sale.

(i'm also not above one more rattling of the ko-fi can) ko-fi.com/spacetwinks
i truly hope you found something unexpected to love - it tickles me pink whenever i end up helping someone find a brand new fave game, especially if it's out of their usual wheelhouse of genres or tones.

you: cruella de vil origin story prestige media

me: cruella de vil comedy with cruella played by jessica walters
jessica walters should get to play whatever role she wants but goddamn i cannot deny how good she is at hilariously out of touch rich asshole
hell even if you wanted to stick with it as Commentary On Society stuff you could just have her say out loud all the terrible things she wants to/is doing and everyone applauds/gives her the benefit of the doubt and TV interviews. cruella by way of verhoeven

lrt yet again you can also see the huge difference between who gets their news from TV and who gets it from like, twitter livestreams of shit while they happen
people talk about fox and it's of course a huge fucking problem but msnbc and CNN will just tell people complete and total horseshit to an utterly locked in audience

notable too that the current president of CNN is the guy who made the apprentice
and it's not just "oh that tracks why CNN has such right wing lean" but also why CNN structures shit in a very TV drama or pro wrestling way. it's not about news, it's about what gets the ratings pop

lol the rest of that answer on student debt was worse, biden just outright lying about not having the authority to do it
i've said before that one of the fave defenses of pundits now is "you can't prove i'm lying or disingenous and not simply ignorant as hell" and politicians adopt it too when they don't wanna do shit that they absolutely can do
the other thing is the dems are STILL in on the "you don't want a RICH person to benefit, do you?" which is fucking rich coming from the exact same politicians that were present for, and pushed for, "you don't want a BAD poor person to benefit, do you?" welfare destruction

hahahahahahahaha they're totally gonna go right back to trying to completely privatize the USPS aren't they
save the usps!*

*long enough for us to win the election, then we'll just go right back to the obama years and get back to fucking them over
i frequently come back to this bit of speech from bill clinton in 1992 after he won the dem primary which made crystal clear what the democrats were going to be doing from thereon out, as well as what their cover story for it would be Image

can't stop thinking about the texas shit and my mind going back to nafta cuz like. i've seen people going "why do people vote republican and not democrat?!" and ignoring vote suppression and dems also being corrupt

1. shit like NAFTA
2. never even admitting NAFTA did harm
one trend i've commented on constantly is that when dems want to win over conservatives, it's always over cultural issues. they throw minorities under the bus in a hurry. never works out for them.

and they never go "NAFTA fucked you and fucked everyone all for the rich"
the dems never issue a mea culpa for NAFTA, or for retreating entirely from the states that got fucked by it. the idea that they have ever made a mistake is verboten, especially when it comes to this.

you leave a vacuum, something's gonna fill it.

thinking how earlier in the pandemic we had a mask shortage cuz we didn't have any factories that we could just use for that shit and now everything with texas and man nafta was really the last nail in the coffin in this country having any infrastructure or interest in it huh
nothing works, everything including your basic human needs breaks constantly, all basic public services are outsourced to whichever company we can do a mutual grift with on poor people, and everybody in leadership helped cause it in the first place
every week being infrastructure week. maybe one day you will actually get infrastructure instead of all of your tax money going to cops and military contractors
