(1) Thoughts from a radical centrist in 2021.

I never liked that kind of label but it's one of a few that partially express where I'm at.

I'm a conservative & not a "centrist" by ideology. But I become an independent to escape the extremism of the far right AND the far left.
(2) I say this bc my online life became less easy when I started speaking up about the events that led to the 1/6 Capitol riot.

I'm not complaining about that. I knew it'd happen & I did it anyway.

I was a firm Trump fan bc of his policy results. Then he let the mask drop.
(3) In before the far left tell me I'm evil because I once supported Trump...

Have you ever changed your mind about something? We all have.

If you want to stop the carnage you should embrace folk like me. We can help those who want peace.
(4) I've been tweeting along these lines since at least mid 2017. That anyone breaking the law to advance their political side's cause is just scoring own-goals. Even more true where violence is involved.

Trump & his inner circle destroyed the MAGA legacy.

In before...
(5) Team Trump, I am familiar with all the talking points you use about 1/6.

Hundreds of people are already facing criminal prosecution and by far most of them are not linked to the far left. You will see, when the cases go to court.

You will also see...
(6) Newly indicted people before then.

That could include folk like:
>Roger Stone
>Mike Flynn
>Lin Wood
>Mike Liddell

to add to the already indicted Ali Alexander and Joe Biggs.
(7) No one likes admitting they were sucked in, even to a small extent. You will be attacked online whichever position you take.

That's why I think there's a massive lurker population thinking along the same lines as I've been writing about.

Many have chosen to leave Twitter.
(8) People who were always going to recoil if Trump ever allowed himself to be clearly linked with those who commit violence are the group I'm referring to.

Until now, we were satisfied that such allegations against him were false. Dems & Never Trumpers cried wolf over & over.
(9) Many among our group, whatever size it is, are keeping quiet because our first priority is & always should be keeping our own life on an even keel.

Most Americans are already under chronic stress from the pandemic and its consequences. Regardless of politics.
(10) A lot of people stand to gain from this situation. I find it thoroughly abhorrent that anyone can knowingly exploit situations like this for personal gain. People on both the far left and the far right are doing that.

And the past year has taught me this:
(11) Generally, those with the best intel, data, & PR materials for landing a rhetorical punch on the far left are the far right & vice versa.

This is a function of basic economics. There's no money in taking the middle ground.

Both extremes have vast institutional support.
(12) So, if I want to oppose something the far left did, I look to those on the far right, & try to avoid any violence-condoners.

If I want to oppose something the far right did, I look to those on the far left, & try to avoid any violence-condoners.

Questioning everything.
(13) "Facts are seldom allowed to contaminate the beautiful vision of the left. What matters to the true believers are the ringing slogans, endlessly repeated." Thomas Sowell

I've realized the same can be said of the far right. I came across an example of this just now.
(14) A device that trolls often employ is using an activist's claim to publicly quiz you about your opinion. They then ignore your response and do it again. And again, if you let them.

Here's what happened earlier.
(15) I've learned to screenshot anything on Twitter I might want to read again if the account deletes it, blocks me, or is banned. And I've learned the usual hallmarks of troll/bot accounts, which are often paid individuals, anywhere in the world where labor is cheap.
(16) Alongside the troll accounts we have partisan activists.

I really like Jack Posobiec as a person, & first followed his account in 2016. But he's using a false narrative here that bad actors like the troll farm managers are utilizing to increase division in the US.
(17) Note that the only source information Jack and others provide on this claim are far left media and Mark Meadows, Trump's WH CoS before and during 1/6.

I don't call those anything like objective sources.

Meadows' claims should be treated as Trump's claims on this issue.
(18) I'm almost tired of explaining that no POTUS ever has to take no for an answer from the Pentagon when the DCNG needs to be deployed (before an event or during it.)

Further, this letter (still to be verified by me) clearly states how the decision was to be made, if needed.
(19) Assuming that letter is legit, then there's no excuse for any media professionals or paid activists to claim the chain of command from the WH to the DCNG was unclear on the day.

I'm going to find and link a relevant thread of mine from 2017.

(1) Thread: Why it might be a good idea for you to look at these photos and share the link.

Below I list some reasons and offer points on replying to the usual criticisms about it.

fbi.gov/wanted/capitol…
(2) Some of the pix are very clear and if you know of the person you will easily recognize them.

There's an old saying "snitches get stitches." We each have a choice whether we want to help the cops prevent crime & maybe even save lives, or not.

Both options carry some risk.
(3) It is possible to anonymously report info to law enforcement. If you want to, then don't use your own phone, etc.

Giving them your name and details can be helpful if they want more info later. Alternatively, putting it in writing gives you greater control of your message.

(1) Thread: Suicide prevention is always an important cause.

Multiple stressors are driving up the suicide rate in 2021. Chief among them is the pandemic & flow-on effects. I also add politics is a factor.

Going to add examples below over time.

suicidepreventionlifeline.org
(2) I hesitated but it's now time. Talking about suicide prevention and response is one way to reduce the harm.

Several groups are at increased risk, esp first responders & health providers.

This case involved a political consultant:

heavy.com/news/chris-dil…
(3) From the story, Chris Dillard attended a local "Stop The Steal" event. It would not surprise me to see a number of people suicide as a result of the tense political situation in the US at the moment.

Politicizing these deaths only makes it worse.

(1) I think the lyrics of "Throwing It All Away" by Genesis, 1986 are a bit like how Pence must feel towards Trump. Or, how those who support Pence feel toward those still defending Trump's post election conduct.

Also, the story of Phil Collins...

(2) ... which isn't widely known, has some lessons in it.

Make no mistake, Phil Collins like virtually every other successful artist, actor and celebrity support the main left wing party in their country.

I'm past caring; I look for the human interest story behind that.
(3) Like me, as it happens, Phil Collins spent many years believing his life was essentially over, due to health issues.

How many of us have been through something similar? I'm betting that many of us have. Life can throw some nasty curveballs.

Correct. Anyone who knows how the Secret Service does their job day in day out would see Trump knew:

>The risk of violence that day was very high
>The security was minimal
>Pence & hundreds of other GOP were at risk
>Trump had a duty to deploy DCNG regardless of pushback
And I highlight the number of GOP allies at risk, including staff, interns, visitors etc bc even if you can somehow understand Trump not caring about danger to his opponents: reflect on the fact he didn't care about Pence, Karen, Charlotte, or buddies like Reps Jordan, Hawley.
I always knew Mike Pence was a good man, who would sacrifice everything for his country if he had to. The left's narrative is that he "enabled" the bad things they accuse Trump of doing years ago. Ever stop to think about how close he came to using 25A? Thank God Pence was there.

(1) I have no idea what is happening to me but I appear to have fallen under the spell of Stacey Plaskett. I mean, look at this badass photo from the inauguration last month. Hot damn.

(The others in the photo are Terri Sewell and Muriel Bowser.)

Here's a thread about Stacey.
(2) Yeah, I've spent 5 years talking about the inherent corruption & anti-Americanism of the Ds but things have changed certain people threw us all under the bus. The Ds are still all that.

I now see the lunatic fringe of the Rs as just as bad. We have work to do.
(3) Not everything Stacey Plaskett said in her presentation today really happened the way she said it did. There was some embellishment, that's politics.

There's going to be criminal prosecutions. Witnesses will be held to a higher standard.

Most of her stuff was on point.

(1) Thread: (Some of) the political implications of the death of Officer Brian Sicknick.

I've been finding the tweets of Matt Walsh thought-provoking and valuable as I try to understand our current situation. My reply to this tweet will need a thread.

(2) Matt Walsh is not the only conservative pundit focusing on the ways this LEO death is being used politically by both sides. It's now widespread, but I predict folk will move on to the next narrative line within a couple of days.

My view of it is fairly unique.
(3) Unfortunately for me, I happen to have learned a ton about health & safety, PTSD, brain injury, suicide prevention, & emergency management, through the experiences of loved ones & through work as a policy analyst/PR fixer.

3 LEOs working on 1/6 at the Capitol later died.
