"Today I'm saying we need a new public health act to force the government to prove the proportionality of the measures that it leaves in place."
Now I agree with the latter half
I disagree with the start
Why do you need an act of Parliament in order for Government to explain the why of its policy choices?
That is the point of a Parliament
To scrutinise and hold the Government to account
Has Steve forgotten that?
On the latter part
The Government should be able to explain the WHY of its policy choices
It should be able to explain what it has considered
What it has planned for
And what side effects it may be trying to mitigate for
Let me give a few examples on previous pandemics
"In handling any crisis, it is absolutely crucial to retain credibility. Giving false reassurance is the worst thing one can do.... almost as bad as outright lying is holding information so closely that people think officials know more than they say."
"And as we try and grope our way to health and to fore the government to prove the proportionality of the measures that it leaves in place"
I miss Operation Last Gasp
Now
It is Operation Grope
"As we grope our way backtowards the light and life and get on with rebuilding our society from what has been a historic hit by any standard we do need to remember yes covid cases getting too high would hit the economy irrespective of policy"
several points here
1 - a "historic hit" - but Rishi yesterday was saying it wasn't
get your story straight
2 - "covid cases getting too high would hit the economy irrespective of policy"
that's why you have policies that prevent it getting too high
"The domain name ‘postalvote.scot’ redirecting to the SNP’s own website has been criticised by the Scottish Conservatives as an attempt to “dupe voters”"

Is eager to divulge internal debate held in cabinet to bolster her reputation & get a boost for Tory leadership post Boris
“On ‘should we have closed our borders earlier?’ the answer is yes, I was an advocate [of] closing them last March.”
"The British vaccine strategy shows the benefits of a nation state being able to move at its own pace, and not having to wait for consensus to be reached among 27 countries"
It doesn't
That's a lie
But James know that
He's a client shovelling the shite
The UK was able to
authorise medicines for emergency whilst in the transition period e.g. in the EU.
choose to fund pharma companies
choose to pre-purchase medicines ahead of the R&D and approval stages completing
