On the 5 May 1947 a packed excursion train derailed at Camp Mountain. Queensland's worst rail disaster, 16 people died, including the driver and fireman, and 38 people were injured.

The Queensland Times of 9th September 1939 reported “… Rail Motor Destroyed … September 8 … A rail-motor with a trailer attached which had been left standing in a shed near the Dayboro railway station was destroyed by fire at 11 o’clock tonight. ..."

The rail bridge was higher and longer and used as a “temporary” bridge, adjacent road bridge washed away.
