This is the best explanation of why libertarianism doesn't work. From my experience, most common people have no real desire for absolute freedom, only order, comfort, and security. They are fooled into thinking they want it but the way they live their daily lives shows otherwise. 
From my experiences, the majority of the great masses of people don't even think in terms of real liberty (or even know what it is). Instead, they are largely content with the bread and circuses offered to them and view the ability to partake regularly in these things as freedom.
This, in itself, is not a problem for it has always been so. The real danger is when, as today, an evil faction of elites take power and begin to manipulate the masses into thinking that all sorts of evil and debauchery are themselves a "liberty" that people should partake in.
Only those with an inborn aristocratic soul can desire, if not even fathom the true nature of liberty.
For it is not a license to do as one pleases but a duty bound on them to improve not only their own lives but to assist in improving the lives of those below their station.
