I despise corporations throwing away food. It completes a cycle of destruction, emission and waste.

Wasting (and exploiting) labor from field and farm to transport, processing and stocking, wasting soil, throwing away animal lives, packaging waste, wasting FOOD.

Emissions are created from the source all the way to the dump, where decomposing food will emit highly potent greenhouse gases. Various resources from destructive harvesting and extraction converge from all over the world to form a neatly labeled package of food that is tossed.

And everything that went into these food items is locked away in dumpsters, even guarded by security or cops, just to make sure this incredibly broken and exploitative system is maintained. To ensure that people in need go hungry, that everything is wasted.

Fuck Fred Meyer for trying to waste food this way the other day and calling the cops on people trying to collect it, but remember this is just one high profile incident highlighting a very common practice.

All grocery corporations do this and we need to reform our food systems.
