There are two national treasures of the US that every immigrant should note when they come to this country like I did.

1. Libraries (Example: @MCPL_Libraries )
2. NPR and all the local NPR stations (example @wamu885

Who reads books or listens to the radio you may ask? Read on
Both libraries and NPR have been at the forefront of change.
Let me start with libraries.
- During the pandemic many libraries found a way to operate - drone delivery, holds to go
- If you need a kayak chances are that a library can lend it to you

-
- The library is in your house through the @kanopy app on your mobile or even on your TV through @Roku or other.
- You can freely become a member of your local library either where you live or where you work
- If the local library system does not have a particular book, they can get it from the consortium of libraries usually in the state
- Libraries have a system to borrow eBooks, audiobooks just like physical books
- Every library has a system to ask your librarian questions
NPR has been changing a lot.
- you can listen to your local station or
- subscribe to any NPR program as a podcast
- NPR has programs to fit any of your interests
- @Marketplace @waitwait @NPRAskMeAnother @wamu885 and 00's of other programs
Usually, @NPR is the window to the country and the world
It is independent and has developed several personalities who give you their independent opinion
One important factor for both @NPR and Libraries is funding
@FOLMC helps the local libraries in Montgomery county and helps the libraries
You can donate to your local NPR station or sponsor plus help them raise funds
Recently @1a had a layoff due to funding. That is not good

The 3rd chart is encouraging.
US Population :331 Million
72M doses administered
259M remaining to be vaccinated
Pace of 1.3M 💉a day
199 days to complete all of US
Assume 72M under 18 don't need to be vaccinated=187M
At current pace 143 days.
Sunday July 11, 2021 ImageImage
Does this make sense?
Take into account that 25% to 30% will refuse the vaccination. Optimistic scenario is then 129M to be vaccinated.
99 days from today at the current pace
Friday May 28, 2021 everyone who wants to be vaccinated gets one.

Yay!
