NEW: Judge says he will NOT raise bail for Kyle Rittenhouse, the 18yo. accused of killing two people in Kenosha, who is currently out on $2 million bail.
Prosecutors had requested a $200K increase because Mr. Rittenhouse did not have his current address listed with the court.
The judge repeatedly criticized prosecutors for asking for the increase. He ordered that Mr. Rittenhouse share his address with the court clerk and a sheriff, but NOT with prosecutors.
"We don't know where an accused murderer's at," Kenosha DA told judge. "I'm not OK with that."
The judge also lectured @KimMotleysLaw, a lawyer for the victims, on Plessy v. Ferguson (the Supreme Court case upholding segregation) when she noted the bail conditions of a non-white defendant in a different case.
Judge said he's "not going to decide anything" based on race.
15 hours of newly-released audio from the Breonna Taylor case reveal chaotic, conflicting accounts from people on either side of her apartment door — the one officers knocked off its hinges in March before killing her.
• Officer who FBI says fired fatal shot: "It’s like a surreal thing. If you told me I didn’t do something at that time, I’d believe you. If you told me I did do something, I’d probably believe you, too."
• The only officer who has been charged (with endangering Breonna's neighbors) said he thought he saw someone inside armed with an AR-15. No such weapon was found.
He also said he had expected one unarmed woman w/ no criminal record to be home alone. nytimes.com/2020/10/02/us/…

I'm now in downtown Portland, where protesters were holding a calm rally at the Justice Center until the police ordered them out of the street over a loudspeaker.
More people poured into the street instead.
Then the protesters burned an American flag, drawing more people -- and media -- into the street. #Portland
Portland riot police just arrived, and protesters scattered from the street into the park / sidewalks. Police detained at least one protester.
"Portland, you not scared, right?" a protester shouts over a loudspeaker.

NEW: Fox News won a legal victory today when a federal judge dismissed a defamation suit brought against Tucker Carlson by Karen McDougal, the former Playboy model who said she had an affair with Donald Trump before he was president.
Karen McDougal emailed me and said the ruling was an "unfortunate decision" and that "the only thing left to do is vote." nytimes.com/2020/09/24/bus…
Here's some background on Karen McDougal's claims against Fox News and Tucker Carlson, from our story in December, when the lawsuit was filed: nytimes.com/2019/12/05/us/…
