I spent most of the day yesterday documenting the extremist rally at the Edmonton Leg which was followed by a Charlottesville-like tiki torch march. I thought I would do a very short update. 1/
As expected there were a number of extremist groups and individuals. I mentioned people like Pat King and Bill Whatcott, but I forgot to mention Larry Heathers.
Yeah, this seems normal. 3/
Henry Hildebrandt also made the trip from Aylmer. 4/
Also there were the Canadian Crusaders, formerly Woke Onez Rebellion, formerly Northern Guard, formerly Soldiers of Odin... what I'm saying is that their leather vests have seen a lot of patches add then removed. 5/
The members of the Canadian Crusaders, Kyle Silzer and James Lyons, also think they are members of Anonymous though it seems both are rather sketchy on what the word "anonymous" actually means. 6/
They guy in the yellow vest is also a Yellow Vester (a number who came from Calgary) and like the other hehe "Anonymous" members, a QAnon conspiracy adherent. 7/
One of the more interesting moments was when Dawid Pawlowski, Artur Pawlowski's brother, was arrested.
A number of claims have made by the extremists concerning the circumstances of the arrest. 10/
Dawid was merely helping wheelchair-bound patriots. He was protecting people from vicious "antifa". He didn't do anything to deserve such horrid treatment. 11/
Interestingly, I've heard another reason, but I'll save that for the end. 12/
The extremists all recorded the arrest, but not the incident that resulted in the arrest. That said with the number of people there we have a few angles. 13/
One extremist is Win Nay who has been associated with a number of groups including Canadian Combat Coalition and Worldwide Coalition Against Islam. Also a group whose name is so dumb I won't repeat it. This is his contribution. 14/
15/
16/
17/
And of course Artur has to cry persecution to Keean Bexte of Rebel Media. 18/
19/
Steven Lane also recorded some of the event. Initially he thought it was Artur who had been arrested. 20/
21/
22/
23/
24/
25/
26/
It is interesting that Lane, who it is clear from his commentary was spoiling for a fight, assumed that the big, black, bus transported the dreaded "antifa" to the event.
Finally we have this short, but very clear, clip. 27/
Dawid was released after the event. His story of recorded by Kevin Johnston. 28/
Dawid does a lot of posturing and commenting on his strength while also threatening to sue the police, but note that his story is also significantly than what has already been told. 30/
31/
32/
33/
Is it telling that a black police bus is outrageous is "patriots" end up in it but then Johnston goes on to say he would be okay with his political enemies being placed in it? 34/
Now, we have a number of stories from the extremists as to how Dawid Pawlowski up being arrested.
I do however have an explanation from one of the counter protesters who was present. 35/
According to the person I spoke to, Dawid spat on one or more of the counter protesters which, if true, would be assault.
And during a pandemic? Yeah, that's a bad look. 36/
Now to be fair, I can't confirm this myself because I wasn't there and I have no video to show one way or another.
That said, I'm getting a consistent explanation from the counter protesters and inconsistency from the extremists.
I know who I'm more inclined to trust. /37
As a bit of an update, Dawid thinks he is going to sue @RachelNotley because... I don't know... he's a snowflake?
Wait. No. Apparently he's a bear.
Uhm..... you think he knows?
For those wondering what that last tweet is about.

The organizers of the Edmonton torch rally claimed that the focus was on the lockdown and "persecution of Christian pastors" who refused to abide by bylaws 1/17
However they also had other targets. They attacked the "globalists", health professionals, science, the left in general and "antifa specifically", among others.
They also went after the media. 2/17
Journalist @BaileyNitti posted a clip of her collegues being harassed by Brad Carrigan, one of the organizers as well as Dawid Pawlowski whose bother Artur was the other organizer. 3/17
Yesterday I posted a run down of what took place on Saturday during the anti-lockdown rally in Edmonton organized by Artur Pawlowski. The part that I thought was the most significant were the clips of Artur's brother, Dawid, being taken into custody. 1/18
They provided a number of excuses. Dawid was arrested for helping a wheelchair user. He was defending "patriots". He was just walking away and he was jumped for no reason at all.
We can now add, "arrested for free speech to the list". 2/18
Artur has continued to insist that it was "antifa" who were to blame. Initially I thought at least he might have present when Dawid was arrested so even if his explanation is self-serving that he would at least have seen how it started.
The far-right Edmonton anti-mask rally is going to begin in about an hour so I thought I would do what I can to update people as to what is happening. First, this is the kind of disinformation they are sharing (from a post on Dawid oFB profile). 1/
Misty is closely aligned with Artur Pawloswki and Brad Carrigan who organized the rally today. 2/
Joshua Switzer-Crowe who goes by The Angry Albertan has been holding his own anti-lockdown rallies at the leg. Today he posted a video cancelling their scheduled rally tomorrow and urging people not to attend the Tiki torch rally on Saturday. 2/10
I include a few clips, the first one noting the problem with deciding to tie your march with associated imagery to a racist rally in which a woman was murdered. 3/10
Tomorrow a group of right-wing extremists are planning on holding a rally on the grounds of the Alberta Legislature. At this point we aren't sure how many will ultimately show up, but it will include people from hate groups such as the Urban Infidels. 1/15
Lane is the founder of the Urban Infidels has said he will be attending and seems especially excited about the Charlottesville imagery as seen on some of the promotional material. 2/15
However there might just be a tiny fly in the ointment. 3/15
Yesterday @EdmontonAgainst tweeted a clip of a @CalgaryPolice officer interacting in what appears to have been a deferential manner towards Brad Carrigan. 1/16
Carrigan is one of the individuals planning a rally at the Edmonton Leg on February 20 along with Calgary street preacher Artur Pawlowski. The imagery on the promotional material includes a torch march from the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville (August 2017) 2/16
That is the rally in which a woman was murdered and several others injured when a car driven by a right-wing extremist rammed into the crowd. 3/16
