1. Peace is expensive, but you don’t negotiate with Shekau nor bandits. America understands this. Does Nigeria?

Each time you open negotiations with criminals, you invite trouble, I mean big trouble. Sheikh Gumi is playing with fire. Any nation that buys peace is indebted to war

2. You cannot rule out ethnoreligious & political dimensions to this war. But the insecurity in Nigeria is largely fueled by corruption.

A police sergeant, have his 3 children in a private secondary school or a private university. Plus, he is building a duplex in the city.

3. Police officers pay huge bribes to be posted down South, to lucrative states. You cannot tell me police officers don’t know the location of some of these kidnapper’s den.

These kidnappers & bandits are well known by the police authorities. In some cases, they are protected.

4. Pay a visit to police stations & formations across Nigeria & see how innocent Nigerians are packed like sardines inside police cells.

No one to bail them. They say bail is FRREE!! Is it?? Police will ask you for money before you could write statement, or even report a crime.

5. Police will ask you for money to put petrol in their broken patrol van. You would put your faith & trust on police officers that stays in “concentration camps” otherwise called “police quarters?”

Please give me a break. The POLICE REFORM ACT 2020 merely exists on paper.

6. Even your so-called president don’t believe in it. He has flouted the provisions of that Police Act 2020, with impunity.

What is the “Psych Eval” of such police officers? Who administers the tests? What is their state of mind when you meet them at various illegal roadblocks?

7. Do you genuinely feel safe, or fear for your life? You meet hungry & ugly looking policemen in the middle of nowhere, they pull your vehicle beside the road, cock their guns & starts to interrogate you like a common criminal.

8. Most of these officers are unwashed & unkempt, they are high on alcohol & Indian hemp. Most of them are drug addicts & alcoholics.

Does the Nigerian police force have a drug & alcohol control unit? If yes? how’s that been managed in many decades?

9. For me, the “force,” should be removed from their nomenclature. “Nigerian Police Unit”, is more people friendly.

Then again you have trigger-happy policemen, who don’t account for their bullets. Dreadful looking druggies & alcoholics, wielding AK-47s as police officers.

10. What’s the difference between a Nigerian police officer & a notorious criminal?

You pick the "Ne'er-do-well,” rogues, the worst there is in the society, you pick them from the streets & ghettos.

11. What do you do? You give them guns to go out on the streets & rake in millions of Naira in bribe monies as returns for the Ogas in the office.

So they embark on illegal arrests, illegal roadblocks, framing & maiming innocent Nigerians for crimes they know nothing about.

12. The become a menace to society. The police is the reflection of the politicians. They are the Yang, the politicians; the Ying. Both compliments each other.

Well, I won’t end this without mentioning the #EndSARS #EndPoliceBrutality.

13. These rogues are back on the streets. #EndSARS is no marathon but a sprint. No retreat no surrender is still the operative word.

We will continue to demand the complete overhaul of the Nigerian Police. The current unit is beyond redemption.
