i think it's important to remember that "cis" should not be considered a default, and neither should heterosexuality.

when people call making a character who's gender identity and sexuality haven't been explicitly discussed LGBTQIA+ "bending the canon" that's pretty rough
like, unless the character has explicitly said, "this is my sexuality," or "these are my pronouns / how I identify," they could be anything. You don't know. So, you might see them as straight, or cis, but that isn't any more grounded in reality than someone else's interpretation.
like, i personally view Dazai as bisexual in the canon, even though it's never explicitly said one way or the other. And I prefer to view Chuuya as a genderqueer character. Other people don't, and that's fine, but presuming one is more valid than the other is not cool
And I think the argument of "why can't straight or cis characters be represented that way, and you use queer characters instead"

um. I had to wait until I was literally 19 years old to see a canon bisexual girl in animation, and that was fucking Korra.

How is that fair?
And I have seen the occasional LGBT character placed in mainstream manga, but lets be honest here:

1. they're usually a caricature
2. they almost always get killed off
3. their sexuality / gender is often used as the butt of a joke
4. they're rarely central characters
The rarity of LGBTQIA+ representation is such an issue in media that queer baiting is a legitimate phenomenon that show runners will use in their marketing in order to boost sales.
Like, I really did have a SIGNIFICANT number of people coming to me when I wrote about Chuuya being nonbinary in What's Your Name? Who were emotional, because they had never seen the topic discussed that way before. And I was touched, but...

The lack of content is a problem
And tbh when you're clearly reading something that is an MLM ship, meaning it's already diverging from the straight "default," and the only thing that bothers you at that point is the fact that one of them is trans...

look within urself, find ur truth, the problem is right there

The one thing I think about with the wall-of-tags fic is the fact that it’s exposed how entitled we feel to services from a platform that operates as a non-profit

I don’t think that AO3 doesn’t want to make changes, I think they lack the financial and logistical means to do so
And I’m not saying that the platform doesn’t exist in a way that encourages harassment, because it does. We’ve all seen it. But I’m not sure if there’s an obligation to the user when they aren’t profiting off of the site itself. There isn’t a customer/client relationship
And I wish something could be done about it, I really do, because there are some serious flaws in the platform that could be fixed with better moderation and a more secure set up, but that would require them to hire programmers and moderators that they simply can’t afford

Now that I have awoken, this song is the inspiration behind the Sequel to everything or nothing, “Unconditional,” which is a much more HOPEFUL story lmao

The themes are similar to angels on the moon in the sense that it does focus on recovery, but it’s less about grief in this sense and more about trauma.

It picks up around six months after Chuuya’s surgery, and while Everything or Nothing and Angels on the Moon focused more on
Dazai’s emotional growth, Unconditional is going to be more even handed in the sense that you’re going to see a lot more of Chuuya’s growth as well.

But overall it’s a happy story and there’s going to be comedy, smut, and fluff to go with everything, and a happy ending!

I sometimes feel like we don’t want to see characters as weak and insecure because we would rather think that self confidence is inherent rather than something that is built up over time with effort because it precludes us from having to take that journey ourselves
My little cousin has been getting into naruto lately and I’m rethinking my Sakura hatred okay I’m INTROSPECTIVE
Because honestly I hated characters like her, or Sansa from Game of Thrones, and Armin from attack on Titan, but they had some of the greatest character arcs ever BECAUSE they weren’t confident 🤔

Despite popular belief, there is no one singular /worst/ day of your life.

Time isn’t a sea of painful pinpricks of moments. It’s a painting, one built in broad, indecisive strokes.

Some moments are /sharper/ than others, more searing—but Dazai would argue that more often than

I want to expand on this CC answer and say that while I'm extremely grateful to have people who like to read my story and who are excited for updates, "is this discontinued" or "please update" comments cause me a lot of anxiety, because I'm already producing as much as I can
This is something I enjoy doing, and I do it to relieve stress from my daily life. If I wrote any faster than I already do, there would be a significant drop in quality.

As far as my AO3 only fics go, I place a lot of pressure on myself with them, and they take a lot of time.
Not to mention the fact that, as my obligations IRL ramp back up, it gets harder to meet timelines and make everyone happy. I have to prioritize my own mental health in that situation, and I just focus on writing things that come naturally, not sticking to a strict schedule.
