7/ Paid acquisition can help once you have a working "product":
– The Hustle & Morning scaled heavily through paid ads
– "If you build it they will come" is an old skool idea that may have been true in 2012, but mostly not true in 2021.
8/ Leverage communities.
We're all bored AF sitting at home & online communities are thriving.
Make friends with people based on interests, not just proximity.
Be helpful, be genuine & share your journey.
Bond over shared struggles.
Build your foundational pillar.
9/ What stands out & spreads the most?
In my category (business):
– novel ideas
– frameworks
– actionable examples others can learn from
– business breakdowns
– transparently sharing numbers or behind the scenes
– and unfortunately, controversial, contrarian takes! 🤨
10/ Learn about the algorithm on each platform, eg:
– most hate external links, if you share a link to your website, impressions are restricted
– % completed & thumbnails (CTR) on YT are more important than no. of views (shows how interesting + valuable your content was)
11/ Use tools to understand the data:
– Twitter Analytics for engagement
– Twitter Media studio of when to post (below)
– YouTube Analytics, Tubebuddy & VidIQ for YT analysis
– Keywords Everywhere for search trends
– Ping me for others!
Reminder:
Correlation ≠ Causation
12/ Remember why you're creating in the first place.
Are you trying to grow your business?
Be rich & famous?
Meet fun people?
Learn from podcast convos?
My take:
– define what a winning scenario is.
– make it easy.
– everything else is upside.
