But there is this man who was wicked than Adolf Hitler but he is not well known. Meet King Leopold II. He was born on April 9, 1835. He was a devil in human form and the most racist in human history. He succeeded his father to the Belgian throne in 1865 and
reigned for 44 years until his death. He was the founder and owner of the Congo free state " independent state of the Congo, it was a large state in Central Africa from 1885 to 1908
The number of people he murdered is about two times more than that of Adolf Hitler. His administration was characterized by atrocities which include torture and murder.
At the Berlin Conference of 1884– 1885, the colonial nations of Europe authorized his claim by committing the Congo Free State to improving the lives of the native inhabitants. Leopold II ignored these conditions and ran everything in a way that favoured him.
He used the Force Publique (Public Force) an army of conquerors, under the pretext of fighting slavery and preventing tribal wars for his personal gain. He use the Force Publique armies to enforced rubber quotas and other forms of labor.
The service term of a soldier could be shorten by bringing more hands than the other soldiers. This led to widespread of dismemberments of which Leopold II reportedly denounce dismemberment because it damaged his economic interest. If a person failed to meet the quota of rubber,
the hands of that person will be amputated. Many people including Men, Women, and children were amputated and millions of Congolese lost their lives. An estimation of 10 to 15 million deaths were recorded.
Reports of death and abuse led to a major international scandal in the early 20th century and Leopold II was forced by the Belgian government to voluntary cease control of the colony to the administration in 1908.
