"Since the advertising in the Weekly does not influence our editorial coverage, the inclusion of ads for liquor, a political candidate, or anything, does not mean those advertisers can expect positive coverage, or coverage at all." montereycountyweekly.com/opinion/local_…
This is the city manager of Seaside CA who sued a newspaper for libel (and lost) then changed strategies to tortious interference - against a newspaper.
Odd 👇
You know whose ad dollars @mcweekly doesn't turn down?
MCCIA influence absolutely affects Zeve's publication. Mike Hackett ish a cocaine trafficker who has not been covered in the Weekly since 2017, is a key figure in a bribery scandal.
Mike Hackett's daughter Michelle was
installed as CEO of Riverview Farms a marijuana operation on the Central Coast.
Mary Duan, Zeve's managing editor, told me Hackett offered her a job, to be his Plasha Will, to be his lobbyist but "turned it down because if [she] took it she could never work in journalism again"
Hackett had a violation of probation hearing for a crime which could have sent him to prison. Hackett has done zero time for cocaine trafficking and had his probation switched from Monterey County's neighboring county in San Benito to MoCo.
Conveniently not covered by Zeve.

in 2014 a bunch of @MCoSheriff and @SalinasPD SWAT guys and narcotics officers set up a fundraiser. @CityofSalinas Mayor Joe Gunter was in attendance.
The fundraiser was hosted at Ahmad Yasin's house off River Rd. in Salinas
2/
Also in attendance was @JimmyPanetta's donor Mustafa Walid Bitar, Castroville businessman Mo Mohsin, Tony Flores of Monterey's Carpet Caravan - and many, many other similarly situated businessmen.
A handful of local politicos were also in attendance.
3/
The fundraisee was asked how the fundraiser came about and he said "these guys just love SWAT cops".
This is former @CityofSalinas city manager Dave Mora (formerly the city manager of Oxnard CA) who laid cover for the Gerry Kehoe fraud he and @CASenCaballero perpetrated on the good people of the MoCo community 👇
To show the community the City wasn't engaged in fraud
2/
Bruce Taylor assoc. formed a group calling itself "SALINAS CITY CENTER LLC".
That group began buying up property around Oldtown Salinas. Property Kehoe didn't lock down (Greyhound, 201 Main & a dda for the 100 block of Main dirt lot).
Who is Mora speaking with here?
3/
An Oldtown property owner named Jay DeSerpa who inherited property from his dad around Oldtown Salinas.
Who is Dave Mora also speaking about?
BASIL MILLS.
The same Mills who, with his brother, ripped off #Salinas Deferred Compensation.
Local fun fact. Meese was friends with former MoCo DA Bill Curtis whose son Billy Jr. was suddenly moving heroin
'Gen. Edwin Meese III says North diverted from $10 million to $30 million in profits from the arms sales to “the forces in Central America."' latimes.com/archives/la-xp…

with fentanyl. A special kind of lethal pharmaceutical. Where did fentanyl come from then? Who was bringing it in?
Curtis was eventually pushed out of the DA slot by an honest CA AG, John Van de Kamp.
Curtis had been running local interference for the "First Cabin Ltd. /

Phil "the fish monger" Digiralamo (local county supervisor John Phillips buddy) smuggling operation."
Ultimately there was a snag in the obstruction. One of the boat captains was a pedophile. He took an underaged male on one of the trips with him and when the cops
Nothing to see here as the @CityofMonterey considers legal marijuana dispensaries to maybe (at best) bring in $500,000 to $1,500,000 per year while the City faces a budget def. of $30 million dollars in this year alone.
the community anything honest, or at least in line with his job as Monterey's top cop.
Plasha Will has a MCCIA office four blocks from Hober's police department. In the attached MCCIA membership roster you can see Plasha Will with other MCCIA board members.
One of those

members is Mike Hackett's kid (no not the kid he had with his Monterey baby mama) and who had to step in as "CEO" of @RiverviewFarms_ after her dad Mike Hackett was arrested for cocaine trafficking in Hollister, CA.
The MoCo Superior Court covered up a probation violation
The CM of Seaside CA replaced Ray Corpuz who had previously threatened to rip off the city if he didn't get his way - with a guy who sued the Davenport Iowa newspaper for libel. (he lost)
A lot of bold public officials In Seaside - this was probably Mayor Ian Oglesby - the prison guard turned politician. Oglesby's wife works for?
“He’s a big thinker, and that’s something Seaside hasn’t had in a long time,” said one Seaside official who declined to be quoted.

Clint Eastwood's Tehama.
While this is unrelated to Seaside his is a fun fact about Tehama. In order to have Tehama built he needed something - enter Monterer. The Basil Mills production.
Basil Mills and his brother Roger ripped off Salinas Deferred Comp while
This is just * some * of California's police payroll. This list starts with @MCoSheriff Steve Bernal - an intellectually challenged man who spend twelve uneventful years as a deputy before being plucked by MoCo rich people and insiders like @LeonPanetta12.
