If you wanna say “Black,” it’s okay to just say... Black. 😉👍🏽
This #BlackHistoryMonth, I am praying for the courage to just say “Black” when I mean it & worry less about upsetting the sensibilities of those unable or unprepared to say “Black” themselves.
I say “Ohioan” when I mean Ohioan
I say “rural” when I mean rural
I say “poor” when I mean poor
I say “immigrant” when I mean immigrant
I can say Black when I mean Black.
And if you’re being truthful & respectful, go ahead and say it, too!
✊🏽
Black people are BEAUTIFUL, and DIVERSE! They can be found in every social, economic, geographic and demographic condition.
And in America specifically, they are a cornerstone of our amazing nation.
So let’s be specific when we talk about our Black neighbors & ourselves. 🙌🏽🇺🇸

How many of you have wished you could take an #ImplicitBias class w/ @DrQuinnCapers4? Then come along with me as I take his class! 🤓👨🏽🏫
#ImplicitBias is NOT racism! Remember: racism is an EXPLICIT experience, implicit biases are subtle ways in which all of us are subconsciously primed to behave in different circumstances.
TAKE HOME MESSAGE #1 “Be aware of priming and your blind spots. Laser-sharp focus is not always a good thing.”
