Every professional has their tools.

If you want to "turn pro" as a reader, here are 5 must-have tools.

(thread) 🧡
1) Highlighter

I've tried 10+ highlighters but the Sharpie Clear View is my favorite.

The tip is transparent so you can see exactly what you're highlighting and it doesn't smudge.

2) Pen

I love the Pilot G2 .07 pen because it's super smooth, doesn't smudge, and has a comfortable grip.

Also, the ballpoint isn't too thick which is allows you to easily take notes in the margins of your books.

3) Post-its

When it comes to post-its, the flags are my go-to.

The flags don't take up much space, are transparent on one side so they don't cover the text, and are super sticky.

4) Page anchor

Ever try to keep a page open while writing about a book or typing up your notes?

Stop using your elbow or a water bottle and get a page anchor to keep your book open.

A great investment for readers.

5) Bookmark

Bookmarks are a staple in the reader's toolbox.

They act as a save point on your reading journey and help you easily pick up where you last left off.

12 Tips to being a better reader from @BlasMoros–the man who's read 650+ books.

(thread) 🧡
1) Choose your books with a balance of serendipity and planning

Serendipity: If you come across a book that speaks to you, buy it.

Planning: Have a wishlist of books you want to read.
2) How does Blas read 5-10 books a month while handling a full-time job, an 18-month old baby, and sleeping 8 hours a day?

He sets aside an hour every morning just for reading and rarely misses it.

β€œThat consistency day in day out is for me what’s made the biggest difference."

I recently finished β€œHow To Talk To Anyone” by Leil Lowndes.

It's probably the best social skills book I've read since "How To Win Friends & Influence People" by Dale Carnegie.

Here are my top 10 favorite lessons from the book:

(thread) 🧡
1) Accentuate The Positive & Eliminate The Negative

When first meeting someone, keep the conversation positive & don't reveal your shortcomings (AKA keep your skeletons in your closet).

You can always talk and have a good laugh about the skeletons later in your relationship.
2) Kill The Quick "Me, Too!"

Whenever you have something in common with someone, don't interrupt with a quick "Me, too!"

You'll kill their flow.

Instead, wait for them to finish speaking before revealing your shared interest. The person will be more moved & impressed by you.

Dating is one of life's most important skills and yet no one teaches it.

SO...

Here are 7 must-read books that will dramatically improve your dating life.

(thread) 🧡 Image
0/ Intro

Who you decide to spend the rest of your life with is probably the most important decision you'll ever make.

BUT...

No one teaches you about how the dating process works or how women view dating differently from men.

Fortunately, these books are here to help.
1/ "No More Mr. Nice Guy" by @dr_r_glover

If you've ever been called a "Nice guy" this book is for you.

The truth is that Nice guys aren't actually nice (I was one once).

They act nice because they believe they're saving up points to cash them in later to "buy" your love.
