1/5 I am more than disappointed and, in fact, stunned by the removal of the COVID-19 mandates in the State of Texas that has for many weeks been a hot spot for COVID-19. These are the numbers that are real: 504,499 deaths in the United States, 46,738 currently hospitalized, and
2/5 28,399,281 infections; 42,995 deaths in Texas, 5,611 currently hospitalized, and 2,647,845 cases. It is shocking that after meeting with President Biden, who made every commitment to provide more vaccines to Texas because of the large impact of COVID-19 amongst the state’s
3/5 population. That five days after that visit, the governor would pull the rug from underneath the people of Texas and steer us in the direction of COVID pandemonium by lifting the mask mandate and all restrictions. The state should instead maintain wearing our masks, social
4/5 distancing, washing our hands, getting tested if we do not have the vaccine and then ultimately getting vaccinated when we have access to it. So when we do return back to normal, we can stay open because we are fully recovered and we have done all that we could to save lives
5/5 and to make sure that we do not return to the disaster of COVID-19 infections. Lastly, does the governor not know that there are variants that are now expanding into the United States and that science does not know how deadly they will be. Enough is enough.

1/4 Testimony today on the Hill evidences that in the Portland protests, a thousand people were arrested. People protesting against the violence that was evidenced in the George Floyd murder. People wanting good things to happen. In Washington DC on January 6th, where it is
2/4 alleged that 40,000 protesters were in DC with the mindset to overturn a legitimate election and to kill the Speaker, the Vice President, and Members of Congress, in that instance, only 300 persons have now been arrested and are being prosecuted. What kind of justice is that?
3/4 How clearly does that show a racial and political divide where protestors who want to overthrow the government who were the supporters of the former president and exhibited acts of racism were barely prosecuted and barely arrested? The FBI failed to provide detailed
An unspeakable moment in our history occurred on Wednesday. 3,124 Americans lost their lives to COVID-19 — the single deadliest day since the pandemic began. Americans are dying and families are mourning every day a loved one that is no longer with them. 1/5
In the next three weeks, we are expected to lose over 300,000 Americans. A vaccine is on the way, but it will take time. 2/5
But Congress has no more time to finally get a COVID-19 funding package for desperate Americans who are on the verge of eviction and suffer from food insecurity. 3/5

I am disappointed by the President’s decision to abstain from participating in next week’s impeachment inquiry. The decision to abstain is especially disappointing given the fact that at every juncture of this inquiry, this President and his team have complained about the...
...alleged failure of the House of Representatives to afford due process to the President. But when given the opportunity to appear on Wednesday’s hearing with experts in constitutional law, he declined. And, ahead of Monday’s hearing, he has again declined...
...The House of Representatives will continue to perform its solemn duty to pursue the facts and afford to all before it the due process due to anyone. No one should be denied due process just as no one is above the law.
