it is noteworthy that Pence believes it is unconstitutional for Congress to regulate federal elections, which is weird because the Constitution pretty explicitly says that Congress can regulate federal elections

Anyway the Republican Party actively opposes the right of Americans to choose their leaders.

and it is basically a crapshoot right now whether or not the Supreme Court agrees that Americans have a right to self government

it makes absolutely no sense to shame middle school kids for not knowing “major events” in US history. the whole point is they have to learn! and for what it’s worth, this kind of shaming makes it *less likely* that kids want to learn history in the first place.

you’re really having a hard time believing that an 11-year-old could not know who Hitler was? that makes total sense to me, especially sinc WWII isn’t an overwhelming part of pop culture the way it was when i was a kid in the late 1990s.
