(1) The case of US DEA Agent Mark Ibrahim at the Capitol riot on 1/6 .

Interesting from a number of angles.

(2) According to Reuters, one of Mark Ibrahim's lawyers is Gretchen Gaspari.

(3) As usual, the far left and the far right have already sent out their talking points regarding Mark Ibrahim.

The left are asking why he is suspended not fired.

Answer: There's this pesky thing called due process, & if you deny it to a person, they can end up walking free.

(4) It appears that Ibrahim's lawyers are getting their PR messages out as early as possible, since he hasn't been charged yet and even might not be charged. We'll see.

His lawyers seem to be the people who made the suspension public.

IMO the DEA is right to suspend him atm.

(5) Ibrahim's current line of defense seems to be "I didn't enter the building, so I dindu nuthin, officer."

He was off duty & carrying his service weapon. He took a selfie & sent it to a chat group OF FELLOW AGENTS. He may have been beyond the security perimeter. We'll see.

(6) I am wondering if Ibrahim was smart enough to work for the DEA because:

"Ibrahim worked in a DEA office in the Los Angeles suburbs. Gaspari said he had turned in his resignation before Jan. 6, but withdrew it before it took effect."

Hardly covering his tracks, was he?

(7) Being a military member or LEO is no guarantee of a willingness to respect laws in one's off duty life. Same is true for vets of mil/LE.

A large number of 1/6 protesters &/or alleged rioters, sadly, are from these communities.

Like any defendant, they may plead innocence.

(8) I'm confident LE agencies around the US are actively investigating everyone who may have contributed to the lawlessness & violence on 1/6. In many cases the evidence is in plain sight. In others, logical reasoning suggests we need more info.

The truth shall set you free.

(9) Just one day after details were released about the first known federal employee potentially breaking the law on 1/6, this happened:

Another fed employee, and he's been arrested. And he was a Trump 2016 campaign worker & then political appointee.

(10) I only have time to bring you news about the occasional 1/6 arrest case; there are so many of them.

(11) I share info like this to show how easy it is to find personal info about you online. Knowing that, why did all these federal workers, LEOs, veterans, and other Trump supporters think they'd get away it?

They believed Trump was going to stay in office.

(12) Mr Klein is blessed with a wise and intelligent mother. We should all be grateful she isn't trying to defend any illegal conduct. Most of the other Moms are.

IMO she wouldn't ask him for more details because he's a 42yo man & he's the person who has to explain his actions.

(13) I have a feeling Politico got her name wrong by mistake and she's Carolina not Cecilia. It's possible this obituary was for Federico Klein Sr.

(14) I was wondering why a family with the surname Klein would call their sons Federico, but then I saw the obituary, and that (if liked to the defendant) Federico Sr was born in Argentina.

(Oh & I spotted my error. Stepchildren means there were likely two Mrs Kleins. My bad.)

(15) From what I can tell, Argentina has a rich history of immigration from a range of European countries. The politics there are unusually intense & sometimes tyrannical. I also know it's been a haven for far right figures. I'm not in ANY way accusing Klein Jr of that...

(16) But Trumpers should expect a lot of blowback as these 1/6 cases come to light. I've outlined my current views in other threads so I'll save time here.

Most of them believe the 1/6 defendants were merely using their 1A rights & that many stayed outside the building.

(17) Guys, the FBI & other LE agencies have court-ready evidence of where each person was at what time, plus a plethora of other evidence from social media, tipoffs, & online research about employment & all manner of things.

There is nowhere to run and hide. Accept reality.

(18) I don't know anyone personally who went to DC for 1/6. I had been telling anyone on Twitter who would listen to go out of their way to NOT be in the city that day.

I later learned that folk like Brandon Straka were there.

(19) Brandon Straka seemed like a smart enough man to stay out of trouble on 1/6. After his arrest, he is reported to have said that the riot was NOT started by the far left. He owns the choices he made & I think realizes other defendants should, too.

(20) I think the reason I'm so outspoken about my change of heart re Trump is that I want as many of us as possible to open our mind & just accept reality.

That will make our lives easier. The far left AND the far right want us to be stressed out 24/7. You are being used.

(21) If I got a group left-leaning Americans in one room & a group of right-leaning Americans in another & asked them how they would feel about being stuck in the other room for more than one hour, I bet I could detect an increased heart rate in most of them.

This is not good.

(22) You are told to fear the other side. I get it, I still fear the extremists on the left... & I fear those on the right now too.

The way out is to start thinking for yourself & eventually not care if some folk don't like that.

I was tentative at first. Now I celebrate it.

(23) Be like these kids joyfully running through the Capitol the very day after 1/6. (I think they were a Senator or Rep's children.)

No one has gotten to them yet to say they should fear the other side.

It's too late for you & me but we can choose to let go.

(24) Further details about Federico G. Klein in the NYT. There's a pic of him during the riot. I still have no info linking him to the instagram a/c I tweeted above. The nature of the charges noted in the NYT is damning. What a foolish decision he made.

(25) The true scale and nature of the violence on 1/6 was able to be known by anyone willing to set the MAGA goggles down & learn about it.

I think a large number of MAGA folk are still in denial. It will soon be 3/6/21. I'm praying for open minds, and wise heads to prevail.
