🎉 #HR1, the #ForThePeopleAct just passed in the U.S. House of Representatives. This is a big deal.
A thread 🧵
The #ForThePeopleAct would:
- Get dark money out of our politics
- Take on corporate special interests
- Protect voting rights
- End partisan gerrymandering
#HR1 first passed in the House two years ago, and it’s still a priority because @SpeakerPelosi knows that we need to unrig our democracy and return power to the people.
.@RepSarbanes, the architect of #HR1, has been unwavering in his commitment to fix our democracy for years. His leadership has been paramount.
.@HouseDemocrats have been committed to pass #HR1, especially in the face of unprecedented voter suppression legislation being introduced in statehouses around the country.
And behind the scenes, thousands of @StopBigMoney/@LetAmericaVote volunteers, members, and activists have worked tirelessly to pass #HR1.
Last time #HR1 passed the House, in 2019, Mitch McConnell refused to even put it up for a vote. That’s not the case today.
Our work continues, and we won’t rest until we see the #ForThePeopleAct passed in the Senate and signed into law. Our democracy deserves it. 🇺🇸

🚨 THREAD: Over the holiday, the @AP reported that #BigMoney20 Senator David Perdue made a "stunning" financial gain by selling off MILLIONS in Cardlytics stock right before the company's value plummeted…
1/20
…Senator Perdue, a former Board Member at Cardlytics, then went on to buy back Cardlytics stock after an "unexpected leadership shakeup."
That shakeup may have been unexpected for everyone else, but it sure seems fishy that Senator Perdue was able to anticipate it.

👎 Let's be crystal clear. This is just another example of Senator David Perdue's seemingly endless corruption.
We joined our partners on a letter to the presidential candidates calling on them to make sure reform is a top priority on their campaigns. What's in it? Six big steps:
1/8
1. Expand the right to vote and make it an easier, more inclusive process.
2/8
2. The executive and legislative branches must operate under stronger, more enforceable ethics laws.
