What a degenerate honeytrap state #Karnataka politics has reached. After the sex scandal of one @BJP4Karnataka minister, now six other BJP ministers have gone to court seeking an injunction against broadcasting/publication of stuff against them. What does this imply?
What are they afraid of? There is so much rumour doing the rounds that it is said there may be a mini tsunami of sex CDs preparing to hit the always anarchic shores of the @BSYBJP government. Perhaps @BJP4India should sack all injunction seekers to save itself of future
embarrassment. The 1+6 panicky ministers were all those who crossed over to the BJP from @INCKarnataka (01 is from JDS) in 2019. It is expected 02 ‘original’ ministers from the BJP stable are likely to go to court today, again seeking injunction. This makes nearly 30 percent
of the cabinet ‘guilty’ of something we don’t know. Now, is a faction within the BJP destroying them or is the Congress destroying them? Or, are they self-destructive? As much as there is an implication for BSY here, who poached them to form a government, there is an implication
for @siddaramaiah as well. In the sex CD that is out, the minister tells his ‘honey’ that BSY is corrupt while Siddaramaiah is a good man. His loyalties seem to be intact even after he crossed over. The 17 @INCIndia men who had crossed over to the BJP were seen as Siddaramaiah
loyalists. This begs the question if it was Siddaramaiah’s plan to pull down the secular coalition led by Kumaraswamy in 2019, by getting his acolytes to cross over. Was there a deal between Siddaramaiah and BSY? Or, was it that all those who crossed over simply stabbed
their leader and party in the back for the sake of power and pelf? Or were they so swayed by BJP, @RSSorg ideology, on which each one has the capacity to write a thesis for a doctoral degree. So many doubts prevail. So much bad taste in the mouth. So much churning in the stomach.
So much nausea that tickles you to throw up. Is this BJP’s way of fixing BSY or Congress’ way of teaching Siddaramaiah a lesson? Both anyway act independently of their high commands, and both their egos are like a sea’s brimful. Both are ultimate warriors of their own
self-interest. We don’t know what the game is and who is playing it, and at what level. Anyway, the game per se is of the base level, played in the midst of growing garbage heaps. Karnataka needs, deserves better.
Why does BJP, BSY find new ways to shame the state each time he is in power. Recall all that happened between 2008 and 2013 - sex, porn, mining scams and a tornado of corruption, which had taken a toll of the party with a difference. Replugging my @Outlookindia cover from 2010:

A top (retired) bureaucrat reminded me that today marks the silver jubilee of @H_D_Devegowda being sworn in as PM (01 June 1996). I told him it is actually a year short, but, he said there is no harm in ushering it a year earlier. I asked why? 1/6
Troubled about developments in India’s neighbourhood and at the borders, he said, Gowda did so much to build goodwill in the neighbourhood during his short tenure, which has never been acknowledged by the lords in #Lutyens. 2/6
He was the most trusted PM in #Kashmir, held polls there after a decade. He had a fantastic thing going with #Pakistan. He was the first PM to focus on the North#East and stay there overnight; create a special cell in the PMO, and release a special multi-crore package. 3/6

Many are comparing @BSYBJP speech in the assembly today to Vajpayee’s ‘96 speech. It’s a travesty to do so. BSY was emotional no doubt, he almost broke down, but one felt that was for his private loss. His diction and delivery were both terrible. He was lisping and slurring.
He didn’t have the moral authority to make a soul stirring speech like Vajpayee. His party’s dark deeds of the past week to cobble up a majority were exposed, and he stood there as a loser plucking worn out phrases from fatigued corners of his mind to ignite sympathy. Didn’t work.
BSY is not much of a speaker anyway. He is so anxious that he pulls out slips with notes jotted down. In fact during the campaign one of his senior colleagues told me they are concerned that he reads and doesn’t speak, which was hindering unfettered communication with the crowds.
